I'm not honestly sure whether Strangers would be able to communicate with non-Stranger players. They may well be so unlike any other race on the Island that it'd be like playing an entirely different game.
Or they might just be palette-swapped Jokers with slightly different skills.
I could go either way on that one.
Based on what brief glimpse we've had of Strangers, I think that having them unable to communicate with other players would be against what drives them. This particular Stranger could be an outlier in Stranger society, true, but it seems that a desire to communicate with others, despite their strangeness, is what drove the Island's first encounter with them. Perhaps we were being innoculated against the dark power that emanates from Strangers before they reveal themselves fully? Perhaps, for whatever reason, they physically couldn't communicate with us before?
I don't know how much of the Strangers you have plotted out, CMJ. But playing with polar opposites is one of my favorite pastimes in stories, and the possibilities that the Stranger/Joker/Dancer dynamic presents are tantalizing. *thunderclap from hovering brainstorm*
