I've noticed recently an upswing lately in the griping and complaining in the forums (so what else is new, you ask), to the extent that the infrequent praise and attaboys tend to get buried in the noise. So, I am taking it upon myself to start this NEW thread, to be used STRICTLY for thanking someone / anyone for anything / nothing at all. I think we all forget to do this too often.
Abusers of this thread will be summarily laughed and giggled at.
And I will start it off with the first thank you, originally posted by me in "filching of biulding supplies en masse"
Is everyone sitting down? If not, I'll give you a moment to do so..........
er...um......Ashtu wishes to extend his humble and hearty thanks to whoever stopped by Ashtu's Anarchy Annex yesterday and - uh - added SEVENTY logs to the addition he hadn't even gotten properly started on yet.
That was awesome.
I go 'way now.
Excellent idea Ashtu.
So first of all, thank you Ashtu for starting this thread.
Second, the big one. Big shout out to CMJ for putting lots of hard work in and making this all possible.
Third. Big thanks to Zolotisty. I've often thought that we're really lucky having her as a mod. You know that if she's looking after something then it's in good hands. Well done all the mods come to that.
Also, lots of people doing their thing on the Island, making me giggle and helping to make it such a cool place to be.
Thank you for GREM. Thank you for GREM. Thank you for GREM. Thank you for GREM. Thank you for GREM. Thank you for GREM. Thank you for GREM. Thank you for GREM. Thank you for GREM. Thank you for GREM. Did I mention I also like grem?
It saddens me deeply to say this, but i.. i'm...
*takes a deep breath*
I agree with.. with.. Ashtu... *whimpers* YAY FOR GREWM*
*typo left in place because you cannot grem grem.
*gets a sublimely mischievous look*
*takes a deeeeeeeeep breath*
YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE POSTED THIS IN BUGS.
*awaits pointing and giggling hopefully*
In other news, THANKS to ALL, for being entertaining, either on purpose or with your supremely terrible porn that I occasionally stumble across (seriously, some of those positions are so much more than IMPROBABLE, I know, I've TRIED
...LOCK THE DOOR NEXT TIME THAT'S WHAT KEYS ARE FOR.)
Thank you for being wacky and interesting and terrible and saying great things and planning great plots and drawing great things and making me laugh out loud damn near daily, every single one of you crazy crazy kids. YOU INSPIIIIIIIRE ME. Occasionally to some sort of ritualistic homicide, I'm not going to lie, but you know. I don't ACTUALLY kill anybody, so it's all good.
KEEP ON KEEPING ON. SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMONDS. AND IF YOUR SHINE HAS TYPOS IN IT,
GREM, MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS! GREM LIKE THE WIND! (thank you CMJ)
Thank you CMJ for creating this amazing game! Somewhere where I'm not considered crazy, but average (the average was worked out including Skidge)!
Okay, so huge thank you to CMJ for an awesome game. Awesome coding and writing, the whole bit. And another thank you to him for stopping by in Kittania to chat with people last night/morning. That was great to be able to do that.
A thank you to all the friends on the island who do stuff with Xith and have fun with him. And a pre-emptive thanks to anyone who goes and reads my wiki entry "Of love and Hot tubs."
It's 95% fixed now, and totally readable. Edit: Oh, and if you did like reading about those scenes, send me a distraction in game! Extra thanks if you do that.
And a thanks to the mods who work hard to keep things running (And to Epaphus too, who doesn't)* and everyone who was helpful when I started out and let me join their scenes, etc., I've had great experiences all around.
*Just kidding Epaphus.
Thank you, CMJ, for giving me a place where I can let the creativeness flow, where I can meet and make friends, and the most fun I've ever had on a computer. (And for GREM, definitely for GREM)
Thank you mods, for keeping this fun place clean, from both spam and idiots. (ZOLO SMASH!)
And thank you Season one veterans for putting up with me in Season One while I got my characters and story together. Because, frankly, my S1 RP sucked. (And don't say I didn't suck in S1, you liar.)
I have the best e-boss. I have the best clan. I am surrounded by extremely talented, clever, and compassionate folk who invariably make the computer-centric portions of my day much, much more entertaining than they would otherwise be. I have the good fortune to work with players who are frequently willing to problem solve like adults when there's some sort of conflict. And, importantly, I have the ability to move threads.
Thank you CMJ for a great game!
Thank you elephants for just being you!
Thank You, reverberant one, for the FAILWHALE. Can't wait to get failboated and RP it a bit.
Unless somebody already has.......
Thank you for the excellent advertising and front page that brought me into your world. I believe the banner went something like:
Improbable Island! We have:
- blah blah blah
- blah blah blah
- blah blah blah
- Adorable catgirls
- blah blah blah
- blah blah blah
Ok that wasn't exactly it, but... yeah. *click*
Oh, hmm, this is just a text game. (An odd reaction from someone who was on a huge MUD kick not 5 years ago, but that's human nature for you.)
A picture of a dude with a rabbit on his head, and... "How did I end up here?" Well that seems like a properly philosophical question. I guess I could read more...
The writing style had me hooked by the end of the first few paragraphs. What was my name? Well normally I'd put in one of my internet aliases, but there was something, I dunno, more real about this. So Devin it was.
Thank you for the two rules.
Thank you to all the people whose antics in NewHome showed me that you can be anything you want here and, as long as you don't take yourself too seriously, other people will accept it.
Thank you for the Rookie Advisory and the role-playing guides.
Thank you to sugar-hi unicorn, whose idle musings showed me that a marble can be much more than a little round ball of glass.
Thank you to Katt, Kolojang, and friends for playing out a story that had me on the edge of my seat at times.
Thank you to Devon for not killing me for stealing your name. I swear I didn't know.
Thank you for timed combat, which makes jungle fights infinitely more interesting.
Thank you for taking away all my experience and money after every drive kill. Failboating just doesn't seem so bad when those resources are so ephemeral anyway.
Thank you for Labs. I hope to be able to contribute something useful back to the game, besides the couple of bucks I've spared in donations and a few referrals.
Thank you for the mental image of a six foot tall, cartoon-purple furred cat person, wearing nothing but a ridiculous grin and a pair of neon green tennis shoes, wielding a rusty chainsaw, riding into battle on a hybrid abomination of a giant house cat and a motorcycle. Trying to actually imagine what my character looks like in his gear is probably the most truly epic moment I've had in any game, ever.
And so much more, but that's all I had at the top of my head, and quite enough out of me for now I think. Now that the mushy stuff is out of the way, I'm going back to running around naked eating insurance salesmen and dismembering lunch ladies. Wait, one more.
Thank you, all of you, for being all of you. I think that pretty much covers it.
Thank You, Dan.
That is all.
And thank you for Emily. Thank you thank you!
I'd like to say thank you as well.
Thank you for taking a paragraph-snob and showing her that there can still be good RP found in bites of two hundred characters or less when she thought that good writing needs at least two hundred words so it can have adequate room for description.
Thank you for the ridiculous, weird, and just plain silly.
Thank you for the bad, frustrating moments, because the let the good, awesome moments shine through even better, and that's what I'm really thankful for.
Thank you for houses and friends and chances for character development that you just don't get in forum PbP RP, and for bed and butchery and the fact that even if any Joker day or particular DK is from the depths of hell itself, it always ends and things get better.
I just looked at the donations meter.
In the less-than-24-hours after the Emily Bundle going live, we've raised more money than I sometimes make in a whole month.
Thank you, everyone.
Subject: Re: I'd like to report a bug!
Thank you Sessine for
Thank You, CavemanJoe, for giving us the Island, the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars, all wrapped in hammered gold leaf and tied with ribbon woven from a unicorn's tail........
...........but I wanted it with chocolate syrup, whipped cream and a cherry on top!!!
still, thank you anyway.
I joined up in July, but have recently begun paying attention to the MoD's and reading around in the Forums. I didn't realize how much work was going into making my pastime something that I actually want to pastime with. Since I've been here the most notable things that I love.
GREM (oh, how much can I thank you!)
Banter chat (thank you)
Trains (yay! thank you)
So thank you! Every one who puts time and effort into making this so very very awesome.
Thank you, CMJ, Epaphus, Zolotisty, and Sessine for being so freakin' creative and witty.
Thank you, CMJ, Epaphus, Zolotisty, Sessine AND Emily for being so damn patient and generous with us!
Thank you, Sessine, for being the single most polite person I've yet encountered on the whole Island.
Thank you, Omega, Amerithe, and Neeip for showing me the ropes.
Thank you, Zpatula, for convincing me to try out a clan.
Thank you, Adder, for taking me into yours.
Thank you, Zolotisty, Adder, Snow Gray, Rihta, Ebenezer, Binjali, Marly, Zpatula, Pod, and Mercury for cheering me on when I sorely needed it.
Thank you, Zolotisty, Adder, Snow Gray, Rihta, Ebenezer, Binjali, Marly, Zpatula, Pod, Notagain, Cadye, and Mercury for cheering me UP when I sorely needed it.
Thank you, AiB (Sept. 2009-present), DICE (Sept. 2009-present), the Skronkys, Jacques Chirac, Ferryn, and Skidge for always making me smile.
Thank you, Anandreas, Zel, Sparkles McFee, Spandex, Tyr, Silcatra, Temper, whoever gave me Harris' hat, Xane, talkydoor, whoever taught me to use the chat color commands (and simultaneously nagged me into beefing up my Bio), Mogar, MadLazarus, and Miss Charly for your time.
Thank you Ebenezer, Zolotisty, sugarhiunicorn, Aaralyn, Marly, Skidge, Lady Akitsu, and Nadyanilo for sharing some fantastic art.
Thank you, everyone who I forgot to list above.
And lastly, thank you, person who played Winnie-the-Pooh on the Island last year. Holy crap, that was fantastic.
for so many things about the Island I can't even begin to list them, but especially, right this minute... thank-you for kindly averting your eyes and allowing robots to use ratpacks and medkits now, even though we aren't supposed to!
(Shhhh! We will all carefully pretend it is not happening! But I had to say something. It makes such a difference.)
Where to start.. Where to start. Probably with the most obvious.
CMJ. Sir, you are terrifically, wonderfully, amazingly, superbly, etc etc, amazing. Like, really. You've basically eliminated boredom from life with this. There's always something to do. And I can't thank you enough.
Our Mods. You, for your invaluable aid to CMJ and the Island, and all of us, deserve my thanks. The Island would be a poor mess without you. And I would still be stuck in limbo. Thanks for that, too. My petition was answered very quickly, especially since it came at what I'm betting was a busy time. You saved me.
My clan. I feel my clanmates may be a trio of sheer awesomeness. There is no room for debate on this. You guys are incredible.
Everyone who will Roleplay with me. You make this a fun place for me to be. Thanks for putting up with me, messing around with me, and hooking me in so I keep coming back.
There's so much more, but i don't want to bore you unnecessarily.
I'm gonna feel like Allanis Moressette in a second , or like I'm at the Oscars. I think I like the Oscars idea better, no-one even remembers that Allanis song anyway...
*achem* Thanks Mercury and Conchor for being the first people on Improbable Island to talk to me. You are both lovely folk, it was nice for you to be so kind to a dumb rookie.
Thanks Omega, for providing me with hours of RP .
Thank you CMJ for having a great sense of humor and providing me with a game that I love and enjoy for relatively little.
Thank you Emily, for taking over as writer, I hope it is fun, and not stressfull for you.
Thank you Zoloisty for being nice to me when I was being an idiot.
Thank you Skidge for being sweet and funny.
Thanks Bourne, for being my buddy through bad and good on the Island, and for being my on Island husband
Thanks GERMS, for being such great folk to watch, you guys are a great team, and I always love reading your threads.
Thanks Dave for having a hat that talks, and for being sweet and silly in the right amounts.
Thanks you Marly, for not killing me
Thank you Eben, for not firing Cassidy, and for being so cute when you're flustered
Thank you Torchwood, for putting up with me, and for listening.
And thank you TYPES for persevering.
Thank you to this wonderful community in general. Far too many to mention by name. You know who you are - those who set me right when my roleplaying standards began to slip, put up with these frequent mistakes, forgave and welcomed nonetheless. Better, those who look back on those times through rose-tinted glasses, and lie through their teeth to make me feel better. Thank you.
And to the Quackers, you shaped my roleplay and Kes' personality more than was ever made clear, and I regret not having stayed for longer. You were wonderful. I miss the chocolate cake and those worrying little scenes written with the beanbags. Did you ever find those bodies, or did the sentient footstools snaffle them? Thank you also to GERM, for taking in that undecided and mentally unstable character who dripped poolwater across the hall one of the first times she visited. And left locks of hair in the hedges. And took advantage of the Irish coffee you were foolish enough to offer...
Thanks also to the mods - Z for reassuring, repeatedly. Sessine, for some truly beautiful scenes, and just generally being a decent chap. Epaphus for QQQ, and for those lines in CyberCity where you made a joke about Pi.
Caveman. You are mad, sir, and none of us can ever thank you enough for that.
And while I'm at it...
I'll keep it simple
Thanks to CMJ for bringing this game to us
And thank you all for making it come alive.
Short one here:
Thanks for an absolutely fantastic new IInventory
Thanksthanksthanks. Oh, and for the gifting feature, too!
Thanks, CMJ, not just for all the time you spend on this game - above and beyond, it should be noted - but particularly for your efforts to turn people on to the WCG.
Whoever wrote Thistlewhite Manor, thank you! It's creeeeeeeeeeeeepy.
Whoever responded to my last petition, thank you! I love mah special comments. Mayhem is so EASY with them.
Thank you Cherriki Ten and sugar-hi unicorn for being so SQUEEZABLY demented. =^-^=
Thank you Adder and Marly for AWESOME continuity stories. ^_______________^
Been wandering around for days, freshly DK'd, broke, naked, unarmed, hungry, hoping to stumble across a crate or two - or three - or a dozen. But no crates to be found? What's up with that?
I discovered you have to LOOK for them.
And you have to CHOOSE to pick them up.
And you have to CHOOSE to open them.
Thank you, I love it!
How does one look for crates, exactly? I'm not sure if I haven't come across any or if I haven't noticed.
thank you for creating this game.
That is all.
Thank you for saving me a button press every time I clean a carcass. I'm still getting used to not hitting that second C, but I like it.
Pick up crates before a DK, stash them in a hidden spot on the world map, DK, collect, open, sell. Free Plasma/Force Gen. (Assuming anything that I said is possible.)
Yup, that'll do it. I guess we'll have to get some more players crawling over the Map, and spawn some more Crate Sniffers, so that your crates disappear naturally while you're trying to find 'em again. Or, block dropping them on the world map, I guess.
(mind you, as long as Dan's Quests still operate the way they do, this is kinda like bolting your front door against the rain when your house has only two walls)
Worse, get an alt to go crate hunting and sit there waiting for you to start so that it can drop them all at your feet. You wouldn't even need to spend the stam going to pick them up and carry them around then.
Yes, using alts like this is firmly into the realm of the cheaty, but sadly there are plenty of people who wouldn't blink an eye at that, as we've seen.
Even if you have to open them or leave them where they are, then people can send out alts to find crates so main character can go straight there to collect them.
I do like not having to open them as soon as you happen to walk on the square though.
Dan's quests you have to put a lot of effort into on the previous DK, and they've got a limit of 25K. It's the combination of this with all the other ways of starting a DK with req which are starting to build up. This has been touched upon in another thread by people who have put a lot more thought into it, and are a lot better at it, than I am.
As a side question, would going out crate hunting for a friend, (different player, not an alt) and bringing the crates back for them to open and start their DK with a good req stash be considered cheaty? I suspect that a lot of players would do that for each other. I know that I would if I knew that it was considered fair play.
......at all those (Ashtu included) who are arguing about one of CMJ's gifts to the Island inhabitants in a thread specifically created to THANK PEOPLE!
heeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ---> ---> ---> ---> ---> --->
Oh man. I guess I'd better not let anyone join my clan. It would be cheating to let them enjoy the benefit of my clan buff, when they did none of the work.
I guess I'd better never gift anyone items from the hunter's lodge, or trade three cards to someone in exchange for two.
And I'd certainly better not help anyone build their dwelling. Wow, I would be such a cheater, helping another character to benefit without them doing the work themselves! "No John, you are the cheaters!"
AND THEN JOHN WAS A SINGLE PLAYER GAME.
As Ashtu has pointed out, this is a thread for saying thank yous. I think its a good thread to have for that, so lets not hi-jack it. Crates and related issues are worth discussing, but not here. I'm going to start another thread on this subject, once I've had a good think about what I'm going to say, unless someone beats me to it.
Thank you Ashtu for reminding me what this thread is meant to be about.
Thank you Calliaphone, Talkydoor, Uncle Bernard and Johnson (amongst others, many others) for making me smile and laugh and for being silly.
Thank you IIsland, and all who sail on you, for being what you are.
Thank you everyone who's helped out building the Mansions, you're cool all of you.
Thank you, Mary, for consistently being a voice of reason and maturity.
And math. I also like math.
:`@ goes off to read about cardinality.
THANK YOU, WIKIPEDIA!
Let me be the first to say:
Thank you, thank you thank you[/b] for making it so that we have to push two keys instead of one to have a smoke. No more clumsily smoked cigarettes!
Except maybe those of us who do their talking `! sometimes. Sometimes the game forgets you're typing and says 'okay, you want to go/do something else!' But 99% of cigs accidentally smoked will no longer be smoked!
Also thanking CMJ for the annoyance fixes. Maybe they're small, but it's nice to have 'em gone!
Thank you to all of you IIslanders for keeping my monsters so well fed!
The Wicked Ashtu giggles, runs and hides!
Thank You, Buddleia, for the incredible thing that is the Improbable Island Land Registry.
You may now return to life as we know it.
Thank You, CMJ, for the Forbidden Cameras!!
How long have they actually been there??
Thank you, Elephant Research Center creators. Those are FUNNY. And nice to sleep in.
Thank you, CMJ for 487 Titans wandering around the Island right now and scaring the crap out of us. Good times!
Special comments get those last 50 characters now!!!! Thanks, Mister Joe!
Sessine is forced to acknowledge that, even if he does have an old grudge against The Watcher, he is glad she came in and stomped all those oversized Titans last night.
...and actually watching her fight was an awe-inspiring experience.
...and ...maybe ...he ought to... just let go of that grudge?
No, that would get boring. All the same: Thank you, ma'am.
I AGREE WITH ASTHU!
Thanks for World Map Chat!
So we can NOT PORN.
Thank you, sessine, for fixing whatever I broke before my good stats ran out.
Thank you CMJ and Emily for another Pub!!!!!!
I like Booz already. ^^
I had to stifle my giggles lest I wake up my roommates, the description for Wanker was so hilarious the first time reading it. God, I love ze Island.
Dear Cave man Joe
I know i've personally said this before, and several others have said something to the extent elsewhere on this thread, however...
Thank you for making this awsome game
That is all
Thank you for fixing the travel bug, so we don't get molested by monsters so easily.
Thank You, Joe, for The Improbable Island Hundred-Point Rally. A whole bunch.
Seconded! And by extension, thank you, CMJ, for developing so much incredible stuff for us to play with in general. You're awesome.
Thanks also to Raimar and Ashtu--if I hadn't been racing neck and neck with you both in that Rally I don't think I'd have enjoyed it that much. Now I'm motivated to find a better strategy for the next one.
Also, thank you to Docenspiel, who made so many very funny footnotes in that Rookie Greeting Guide thing. That very much improved the document, I think.
Thank you for me. I like you, me. I think you're pretty swell.
Aw. I like you, me too. Except that one time I always thought you were a jerk.
THANK YOU EBENEZER I LOVE THIS!
Found on the notice board:
Nothing in particular. Just a GTY. (Generic Thank You)
Oh, and on a side note - @Makiwa
"Spank my nipples, cutie-teeth."???
Not sure if I want brain bleach, a flame thrower, or selective amnesia......
But Thank You, anyway......
Thank you, everyone. Just thank you.
Not much else to say.
So thank you,
-spreads the hugs around-
For starters, thank you CMJ for writing the story for this game, putting aside everything else to become its patron programmer, listening to the requests of your Island's inhabitants (the Watcher and the Drive can attempt to claim that it's their island, but it's really yours), and for allowing us, the Contestants, to have so much freedom! Freedom in storytelling, freedom of movement, freedom to do what we like best on the Island.
Thank you, oh Mods, for your untiring work at keeping the Island a fun place to be, both by being an active part of its population and by addressing those who would try to make it less fun. Thank you also for being accessible, easy to talk to, and willing to address problems, right wrongs, or just talk.
Thank you, my fellow contestants, for reminding me daily why I decided to start playing this game. There are far too many people for me to thank to do this properly, but I can split them up into a few categories: the veterans who put up with my growth in role-playing over the past year (almost two years now!), and the newer folk who bring their own ideas and Improbability to the table.
*Takes a deep breath*
Tooo CMJ - thank you for...well... everything. Thanks for such a great game. Thanks for the lions. Thank you for it all
Thank you to his lovely wife Emily, for coming on board and helping with the writing.
Thank you to our Mods - Sessine, you are pure awesome
Z - So are you~
For other mods (I don't know who you all are!)
Lets see, to Harris, thank you for being, well, you.
Thank you to Adder, for accepting Cherri into AiB and becoming like a father to her.
Thank you to EBEN! For putting up with EVERYTHING I do to your poor character - stealing his eye colour, making a plushy of him, giving him hugs, yada yada yada.
Thank you to Marly for being, well, Marly
Lets see, to Shi, for being delightfully mad
To Obsidia for being goofily adorable when you were crushing on Cherri
To Carter for being a great Uncle
To Alex for well - **Grin**- well, being Alex (MacMillan)
To, lets see, Valentine D for constantly giving me hugs!
To hrm, Archer for inspiring me to do the parodies!
To Lysander for being a big comfy pillow for Cherri
To Pod - for plainly being Awesome.
To Chimental for giving Cherri a big fluffy bulldozer
I'll add more later!
Thank you to everyone who's written with me. I always have a wonderful time. I'm afraid I can't name you all specifically, since there are so many.
I am thankful that I always have so many great people to write with.
Thank you, of course, to CMJ, Emily, and our moderators.
Thank you to those who donate to Improbable Island when I'm too broke to do so myself.
Thank you to everyone who's enjoyed reading my writing. Thank you for having interest in my character.
Thank you for creating interesting characters for me to play with!
Thank you for writing stories. I have enjoyed reading them.
Thanks to everyone who's enjoyed my drawings, scribbles, and doodles.
Thanks to those who have drawn, scribbled, or doodled too.
Thank you to those anonymous people who have sent me gift boxes. (Even the crap meat ones. They make me laugh.)
I realize that I make a lot of annoying posts on the forum and stuff, and I do apologize for that. I just have ideas and can't keep them to myself (as much as I've learned that I really, really ought to [no I'm not talking specifically about the rank selection thing]), and the way I say them tends to come off as rude and nonconstructive. That's not what I intend, at all; maybe it's a problem with me, or maybe it's a problem with the internet, but the tone I mean things in (sarcastic, light, joking) almost never translates well to those who read it. I also think I have a bit of a different sense of humor than most people.
I'm not joking right now, though. This is serious time (for serious people).
That said, I don't want to give the impression that I don't love this game. Really, I do. So thank you, CMJ, for all of your hard work in providing it for us. This game has ruined all other MMOs for me, but that's not your fault; those games (WoW, FFXIV, and such) just feel so completely dead when I realize they lack the social and player-driven story aspect. In this game, characters are characters, not just lifeless avatars or toons or stat-blocks or whatever it is you'd like to call them. It's addicting! This game has even gotten me, me, Scrooge McPennypincher Matthew (this should be my title) to donate at least a hundred dollars, and I only wish I had the financial standing to donate more.
Of course, thankyous go out to my clan and everyone I've written with; similarly, probably too many to mention by name. So if I've ever written anything with you, this is in your direction, too.
Also: I'm liking the new "(player) takes a breath..." thing.
Let's see..where to start..
The obvious thanks to CMJ for the game, I saw the ad a long time ago, but never checked it out till one late night while bored. It changed my life quite a bit. (For the better of course.)
Hmm, next, I'd like to thank Bob, Chim, and Shi. Sure I don't know you all that well, but you three were kind of a role model when I was new(er).
A thank you to Beeps for being the first to make IC contact with me, and possibly leading me to make my best friends on the island. That's where you guys come in, I'd like to thank my clannies for making this an enjoyable experience.
I'd like to thank everyone else for putting up with me when I was new(er) and did some stupid and embarrassing things while learning the ropes and figuring out what was and was not acceptable. I like to think I've improved and am less annoying now.
And finally, I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone (again) for being cool and stuff. It's a great, and much needed, outlet for my creativity.
Thanks for the new quest.
Thanks for the recent monster additions, to the islanders that wrote them and the mods that approved them.
Thanks for the (new?) improved buffs display mechanism. I love it.
Thanks to anyone who left a comment in my dwelling, I'm glad the skullduggery makes of for the disappointment of not finding a crate.
I poked through the Land Registry to find out who that awful/awesome dwelling belonged to, and I'd been meaning to Distract you, Maniak, saying exactly how awful/awesome it was, but since D's got the ball rolling... Thank you! I giggled incessantly once I'd gotten over the oh-so-crushing shock.
Thank you to the mods, doing their good work behind the scenes.
Thank you to the good folk of clan SAVOR, for being great!
Thank you to every player who takes time and effort to put together a fun, well-written, enjoyable dwelling.
I have a long, long, long list of thanks, but in this post here I want to single out three of the newer ones, all to the real-life Dan and Emily:
Thank-you for the new quest in Kittania! Don't know which of you was responsible for which bits of this -- I'm kind of imagining some of the funniest parts coming out of a conversation involving lots of laughter. In any case, oh boy, did we ever get our money's worth with those Emily Bundles!
Thank-you for the "[character] is taking a breath..." feature. I'm liking it a lot.
And thank-you, Dan, for venturing down the badnav rabbit-hole again and again to nail so many of the causes. The frequency of petitions from characters stuck in terrifying badnav-limbo has gone way down. (Thank-you to Emily for letting him, despite the risk that he might never come back!) The effect isn't very visible. Hardly anyone is going to notice that, wow, they haven't gotten a badnav in a good long while now! For any one player, that could just be random luck. But I used to be seeing several cries for badnav help in the petitions every single day. Now we've gone a sizable period without any.
That's more than luck; that's someone plunging in and doing something hard that deserves a thank-you.
Uhm.. Wow, where can I begin here.
As a few of my fellow players may know, my history on the island goes waaaay back into the pilot days. Which makes me an old woman compared to all you young wippersnapper new writers and your fancy IItems. Back in my day, we had travel points and jungle fight limits instead of this newfangled stamina system. Which, by the way Dan, is AWESOME and SO USEFUL (and I would never go back to the old days where it could take you two full game days to just walk anywhere without a good mount.)
So yes, thanks be unto the mystical computer caveman for.. All of this. The island and the story and the forums and the opportunity that I've found here. It has gotten me hooked again and again and I am in love with this place. All your writing that set up the backgrounds that we ourselves craft stories in, and all the fun game dynamics thrown in to allow us to mess with even more things and craft more stories. It's brilliant, all of it. You are the greatest.
To my fellow players, holy hell you guys. You guys have written so much here and done so much with all of your characters and it amazes me every single time I think about it. Somehow, somewhere along the lines when my back was turned early on, this huge society was born and it has all these little pieces and bits and shiny baubles and it's just so amazing to watch. Thank you guys so much for that.
I have been here so long and enjoyed the writing and games and stories and I have never really given anything to this island. Tonight, I'm throwing three hundred dollars into Dan's paypal because the man deserves it, especially with the work he's been doing lately to figure the current problems. For my fellow writers, I know it is a tiny tiny thing and I'm sorry I can't do more, but you get some extended play time.
Dan, I do not know what you will spend this money on but if it goes through fast enough I wholly approve if you choose to use it for taking your lovely wife out for a nice Christmas dinner and a pint of Guinness on me. You really, really deserve it. Happy Christmas.
Yikes, Rosin. That's generous.
Aspiring indie game devs, take note: do it for the love, and the money will follow.
It's the least I could do for the man whom has given my brain such a fun place to frolic and write. Happy Christmas, Mr Hall.
Oh and, sorry to everyone in advance for possibly over inflating the island economy for a while if each of those dollars still spawns a single crate. Didn't think that through quite all the way, did I?
Thank you to Beeps for this.
And thank you to Cherriki for, this and others in the gallery of shame.
Thank you to Beeps for that awesome Twas the Night Before Christmas.
Also thanks to everyone who listened, rated, and commented on the Improbable carols ^_^
Cheers to CMJ for letting comments stick around for a fortnight or more, I rather like that, especially over Christmas when people were away.
I'm assuming that this is deliberate, if not, then I suspect that you should be aware of this.
Yup, just checked the game settings - I must have set that to 14 days when I was adjusting the character timeout window. Man, I must have been sleep-deprived. :-/
I'd like to add a thank you to Shi for the wonderful poster art of various characters she's posted in the gallery.
And also for playing CG's resident loon so artfully.
An all round artist then. Thanks for sharing Shi with us.
Thank you to Marguerite for going above and beyond in helping me get ready for this evening's festivities!
Thank you, every luminary who has ever given Misery Guts a voice.
Thank you to everyone who who went around rescuing the embattled cities yesterday. I know there must have been several of you. Cyber City, New Pitts, Ace High and Squathole were all breached last night. Today everywhere is open, with at least 500k in the walls, and only minor unrest. I love you all. You are awesome.
Also thank you to CMJ for the new feature in the Council offices - it's really useful to see at once where needs help. (It's also delightful to see one of my suggestions being used.)
I would like to thank CMJ for bringing back the Bluerock Chapel. It's good to see it back.
A huge thank-you to everyone who joined in the Improbable Central Market yesterday. For such a hastily-conceived idea, it absolutely flew, and that's entirely down to the contributions of everyone who jumped in to add and embellish and give it a real crowd buzz. I've just re-read the log and laughed my head off all the way through. Thankyouthankyou
Thank you to everyone who has been welcoming to my character, with the exception of a few rough spots things have been delightful and everyone kind.
Thank you to the TYPEists for helping me find a place in this world.
Thanks especially to Sinna - from my first night you've been helpful, fun, and just the teasing mother/big-sister figure I needed. Thanks for making it so much fun to write the fluffiness!
Thank You, Dan, for blipping blic-news.
I would like to start a short list here by thanking all the people who've taken that brief moment to tell me how much they enjoy my character. I had no idea what would become of the woman when she stepped into this, uh... "Creative" universe we have here, particularly considering most of the characters I've played up until now have been same gender, and I wasn't sure if I could play a *good* female. Apparently I can file her under "success" despite my initial worries.
Incidentally, I'd like to thank all the people who put up with Mercury routinely... More specifically on that note, thanks to the Bedlamites, who I'm fortunate enough to enjoy the company of, and pull Rank over. Thanks particularly to Adder for having founded the lot, and for promoting my ass, Shi, for the *spectacular* drawing of Mercury, and to Cherri for pretty much being the biggest deal in my life since Warhammer came along.
The Obligatory thanks to Dan and Emily for the Island, of course, which has provided endless, not even hours, but days of entertainment, and thanks to the *Island itself* for keeping my mood up during a rough spat of depression and for bringing together with an absolutely fantastic woman behind the scenes.
Thank you all for swelling my Ego, too... I really need to see a Doctor to see if there's anything to help with the inflammation.
Where to start.....
Obviously, numerous thank yous to CMJ for giving us this amazing site, all the hard work, etc.
Thank you, AiB, for accepting me and giving me a clan to belong to.
Thank you, Cherri for making one of my favorite characters and your lovely singing voice.
Thank you, A.W. Carter, for giving me a place to call home on the Island.
Thank you, Shi, for making another of my absolute favorite characters and for all your craziness.
I could write forever, so I'll be brief.
THANK YOU EVERYONE
for accepting me and roleplaying with me, and all the good times that have been had and will continue to be had.
Holy crap, where to begin? Okay, first off:
To the club-swinging Caveman known as Joe, thank you for coming up with this kickass game, and even more thanks for sharing it with us lowly commoners.
A big thank you to Cherriki Ten, for help in fleshing out my character, and some hilarious and touching RP moments.
To Zeekela, my ninja cousin. Keep on going on with that mad scientist vibe of yours.
To all my clan members at AiB. My fellow Bedlamites. **Bows** Thank you.
To Liste. Thanks for the opportunity to treat your character like a little brother. I rather enjoyed those RP moments.
To Rykar, Sneaky, Alex Macmillan, Kiros, and all the other people I've met on the Island. Thank you for making this game more than just words. You give it LIFE.
And finally, last but by no means least, To the Iron Chef Carter. Thank you so much for everything you've done for me on the Island. For giving me a home, family, and more importantly, a place to belong. Thank you. For every thing.
Thank you for placing Explore, Return, and Sleeping spaces at the top of the list, for dwelling owners! It's very much an improvement, even though I still hope for collapsible dwelling control options.
Thank you, CMJ, for the Banterspace on the Failboat. That will be so useful.
Thank you, Wayfarer's Gambit, for letting me become a clanmate when I was just a rookie (I still feel like one sometimes, though it's a good feeling--I'm always learning). You guys are always fun to RP with.
Thank you, everyone who has helped keep the Stranger event soul-suckingly creepy, well written, and a wonderful time roleplaying!
Especially to CMJ.for scaring the bejeezus out of me, and frightening me for my poor character, too.
And to Adder, for kicking off the major response.
SEE Y'ALL TOMORROW! SO VERY COLD AND FRIGHTENED!
Thank You, CMJ, for letting us swing on your swings and play in your sandbox.
The Caveman Joe, thank you, for bringing me to live.
Thank you to CMJ for extending the double points thing. I was so sure I was going to have to miss out on it. Also, thank you for the bad joker. Awesome!
I would like to thank, forst and foremost, CMJ for having advertisements for this on the SinFest comic website, as that is where I first heard of II, and I was bored enough to click on a banner ad, so VERY thankful that I did!
I would like to thank everyone whom I have bothered with issues I have, and for helping me with some RL problems I've been having, you guys and gals are my heroes for listening and helping when I was at ends with my life. I would also like to thank the Island itself for providing me with like-minded folk and for being an outlet for myself, and actually showing me that I can love again.
If I could, I would send everyone on II a gift basket for being such wonderful people, I hold each and every one of you in the utmost praise and respect.
*reads 'When You Talk to People About the Island...'*
Thank you, Escemfer. =^-^=
I would also like to thank the Internet for being around for this all to happen, and not crashing too often when I am blitzing the Drive.
*Secretly wishes she'd waited until now to give all that money, then settles herself with the thought that it was just a three-day-late christmas gift after all was said and done*
Oh. Wait. Uhm..
Mister Stranger, thank you for bringing all your friends back from being dead. Kind of you, even if you did kinda kill them in the first place.
Thank You, whoever is responsible for "Puppies of a Minor Diplomatic Incident." It made me chuckle loudly.
Now that I'm finally registered on the forum there's plenty of thanks I have to hand out. Here are the first few that come to my mind.
Of course CMJ. Thank you for this brilliant place! Also, all you great people out there who make the island... unique.
And thanks to whoever build Thistlewhite Manor. Very creepy!
Thanks to the writer of the monster BEACH!, and to the writer of Purple Professionals, for making me laugh.
Thanks to CMJ for the latest optimisation work. Abe pointed it out, and now he has, I really notice: there has been hardly any Newday lag recently. Thank you!
Thank you, creator of the Flying Sea Serpent! I wonder how many other geeks will see what it's referencing!
There's always the summer update course, Chim. Instead of splashing about, you realy ought to get to your training, tackle your problems, and take it to the next level.
You'd be amazed at your new point of viewI'm sorry, i just cant find a way to use 'evolve' in here, however much i'd like to.
It's about a magic carp!
Spoiler; Or, a Magikarp, the pokemon that evolves into, well, a flying sea serpent, Gyarados
Thank you for a bunch of new cool stuff that happened while I was gone. The side-stories, council offices and making me remember my rookie days
Thank you, Nanobug, for being so bloody bizarre as to fit in here like a veteran.
Everyone- I know less than half of you as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you as well as you deserve.
Thank you all for being that kind of folk for and to me, in all senses.
As it can't possibly be stresed enough, Thank you CaveManJoe for creating this game.
This is a thank you to some off Island folk (I think anyway, who knows). Specifically to the guy who goes by the name Ginger Fuhrer who runs a mail list call B3TA - which is bloody funny.
Why the thank you? Well it's through that list that I found out about the island. The plug on the list that particular day was the flavour text for the sneaky bastard lion which caused be me to laugh out loud, really, at work.
So, thank you Ginger Fuhrer.
Here's a taste from this week which is kind of apropos the thread on the enquirer about porn and cybering that was causing problems round the island at one time. I never saw any of it and it was washed away by mod bleach and elbow grease - another thank you then. Judging by the thread I'm glad of it. Anyway here's the link (this also made me laugh out loud - maybe I'm just warped).
WARNING: this is not safe for those offended by explicit porn talk or delicate sensibilities. There, now I don't have to apologies.
>>>> Remember cyber sex? <<
Do people still bother with this stuff now you
can stalk people on social media and have a
better idea of the looks/gender of your prey?
But some funny examples regardless.
You clicked didn't you despite or because of the warning....
I'm glad everyone liked my Flying Sea Serpent as well. Then I'll take this opportunity to thank Zolotisty for approving so many of my monster suggestions!
I don't know if it's been mentioned, but to whomever put up the Dump Truck Operator...I finally got around to actually reading the monster description. (I hit ctrl+a and ctrl+v fast enough to copy it over to notepad as I was mindlessly spamming jungle fights)
I almost spit my iced tea over my monitor...
I'd like to say thank-you for the new Down Below stuff. I'm really enjoying it, and I especially love how it seems to be interacting with some of the other stories on the Island.
Thank You, TroglodyteJoseph, for the awesomeness that is Mementos.
I haven't done any decorating for a while and hadn't seen the changes for setting up a job. That's so much nicer now. Thank you for that.
Man, that was in so many internet years ago that I didn't even remember.
This one's pretty nice too. Try combining Night, Rain, and Fire.
This one's for Matthew, who introduced me to rainymood.com.
Why? Because it is in the mid eighties and humid (at 9:30 at night), and my AC is broken. So I am currently listening to rainymood.com, and it is helping me psychosomatically beat the heat.
Thank you for the commentary armor. Custom armor actually matters now. Cool stuff.
And I don't mean armor for our commentary. That'd be silly.
That is nice. Thanks CMJ!
Just a quick thank you to whoever sent me a bunch of pressies.
That was a warm welcome back
Thank you to the mysterious donor of the large bundle of quills. I wish I knew who you were, but hopefully you'll see this and know how grateful I am.
Thank you, whichever Power that Be who did it, for giving my mount his name back.
It's been literally MONTHS, but Chester and I ride forth once more!!
Thank you for everyone who is participating in the Alts discussion, and your overall ability to discuss the situation as civil adults! I would have thrown in my two cents, but it would be beating a dead horse at this point.
Also, thank you for Mementoes stats, programmer-folks. Good stuff.
Thank you for fixing viewing profiles in clan halls! Twice now I've accidentally clicked someone's name in my clan hall, and twice I've not been stuck in bios for a week! I'm free, free, freeeeee!!
Thank you for weather!
Thank you for the cool tree graphics on the Jungle page. Wow. Bloody Brilliant
Err... any chance of having the option to turn the trees off in Kittania? It makes reading commentary a bit iffy.
Weather! Whether the weather is nice or not, I thank you!
...for weather. The in-outpost weather tracker is fun, and the backgrounds are pretty.
I just realized I haven't looked around outside the outposts yet!
I'd like to thank you for the outstanding weather, Caveman. That and all the other hard work you've poured into such an absolutely fantastic experience. So thanks!
And who got coffee stains on my computer screen?
The game gets dark at the end of game day!
THIS IS AWESOME.
Yes, the weather system is absolutely fantastic and wonderful for setting the mood! The new backgrounds, the text, all of it! Delightful.
The new 3-D skin is amazing- especially on my HD monitor!
Thank you, CMJ, for this latest MOTD. About the suicide resources and whatnot... you are so right, and I absolutely love you for mentioning it. You have my most heartfelt thanks and warm squishy internet hugs.
Thank you to Z, for the awesome merch designs, and for that hilarious drawing of the Budget Horse.
Thank you to CMJ, for making that cute little quest, for the prettiness of trees and the entertainment of weather, and especially for replying (even better - with the answer I'd hoped for) so promptly about Mementos and for fixing the Factory.
Thank you to the many, many people who have made huge dwellings and filled them with beds. Especially for the buildings on the city squares, and for the places in the far-flung reaches (so handy for crate-hunting or rally-racing). It's lovely to read the descriptions, and it's very handy to get the stamina boosts.
Thank you to the various people who are making so many giggleworthy Mementos and putting them on the map for others to find. And thank you to the people, some known and some unknown, who have sent me Mementos, too.
And, ongoing, thank you to everyone who makes this such a wonderful place to play. Everyone who writes good scenes, everyone who welcomes everyone else, everyone who writes fun and interesting and amusing and delightful stories. I love it here and I love you, too.
Thank You, Whims of Fate, for smiling on me today!
TWO virgin titans!
ONE game day!
(yeah, yeah, i know, there are those of you who do that naked with your fists strapped to your back, before breakfast. lemme bask in the personal glory anyhow, huh?)
Thank you for including clear night skies (with improbable constellations!) in the weather. I really enjoyed seeing the Smoking Spiderkitty sail lazily over IC early this morning, before the first tendrils of dawn.
The new look/functionality(?) of the Enquirer is awesome. Thank you! It looks a lot more like you'd expect, though I will miss that thematically-incorrect header.
(Some of the buttons look a little out of place, now, like Forum Index, Mark all topics read, etc. Will those be replaced?)
Yes. Yes they will, because by god if CMJ doesn't do it; I will.
Thank you. Thank you so much. It's the surface presentation things that irk my shallow self, and attention to fixing these details are honestly what excites me.
Thanks for moving Pleasantville Station to Pleasantville. It might seem like a small change but it's oh so good.
Thanks for this lovely new forum look, including the links back tot the homepage, the island and twitter!
Thank You, CMJ, for fixing Preferences Hell!
Thanks you CMJ for giving us 20 and 50 packs of cookies.
AND the chance to get some cool other goodies along with.
Thanks to CMJ for:
- Jill quest
- Time and Weather
- New Mr Stern-quest
- Fixing the factory
- Global Radio Banter
- Memento attributes
- 20 and 50 packs of cookies
- Other tiny bug fixes I'm not mentioning here, but know that I know. And I am grateful.
Everybody that is, was or will be in my rewards programme. For generally being awesome. You all rock.
I am posting this here because it must be preserved for posterity for ever and ever amen or until the Island sinks, whichwhatever comes last..........
Thank You, CMJ!!
Thanks to Sessine for cleaning up ownerless Empty Plots and ORDs and for unborking the Abandoned Waystation.
Thank-you to Buddleia for the intensive work she does documenting all the dwellings on the Island, and for this extremely comprehensive post summing up practically everything we have ever said about how to improve dwellings!
Also, thank-you to Devin and Beeps for this very handy text preview function, and a huge thank-you to Devin for the excellent parser of the old 'improbabledwellings' format, without which it would have been near-impossible for the owners, or me, or anyone, to recover any of the borked dwellings.
Sorry for being a bit off-topic here, but Buddleia recently brought to my attention that apparently I've screwed up the preview code on that page. Which is to say, that automatically closes left/right/center justification when you start a new justification, which is not how the Island handles the tags. Since I'm not entirely sure how to rework the code to be "right," all I can say is use caution when testing it there, and try it out on http://www.bitwise-guy.com/improbable/beepsmod/ before spending the deco time on it on the real Island.
Thanks to Beeps for being such a maniacal code-delver.
Thanks to Zolotisty for our moichandise.
Thanks to CMJ and Sessine for the back-breaking fixes and the wonderful in-game creations.
Thanks to Zolotisy, Ebenzer, Epaphus, Sessine, CMJ, AND Emily for your patience. We're high maintenance, I know.
Thanks to whoever has given me my little awards. You're pretty cool too.
Just want add my thanks to the many others for Budd.
Awesome work compiling the suggestions for dwelling improvements, the land registry and just for being an all round helpful person.
Thank you for fixing the mini-HoF top ten bug.
Thank you CMJ for building a world for us to come and play in.
Is this the proper place to express gratitude to CMJ for his prompt and courteous handling of a petition
Thank you Caveman Joe, for creating this amazing game. We are all indebted to you. Thank you to everyone over at Improbable Labs, for your additions to the game and helpful comments. Thank you to everyone who created a monster, a great part of the island's humour. Thank you Emily, for what you contributed, which I am sure is going to increase. Thank you everyone who I have ever roleplayed with, for making the island what it is. Thank you all. I have now finally got a hyperring, so I won't ever leave.
Thank you, everyone.
Because nobody has lately.
Thank you, Ashtu, for making this thread, and also for thanking people!
Thank you, CMJ, for managing to put together the awesome new combat system with a broken laptop.
Thank you, Marly, for being a stellar clan leader, and for actually writing the pink bloomers in.
Thank you, Maniak, for your Rewards Program-without-an-me, and for hauling a good number of people through their high-rank DKs by their collars.
Thank you, everyone who has been trying to drag me into the Story half of things, for being kind and (VERY) patient.
Thank you, everyone who's answered my desperate calls for Sheila's equipment information, for helping me with my obsess--um, project.
And thank you, all you good Islandfolk, for making me smile.
Thanks be to CMJ for the awesome game and the writer's therapy it provides.
Thanks be to all of you crazy people helping me build my dwelling.
Thanks to everyone for putting up with me for so long... and thanks for all the fish.
Thank You, CMJ, for giving me a (another) good excuse for procrastination on my dwellings maintenance!
Thank you, Ebenezer, for the endless giggles you've brought me in general, and, more specifically, this:
Thanks, CMJ, for the recent translations tables fix and the other recent changes you've been making. You're on a roll with the visible improvements to the game.
And hopefully I don't sound like a commanding and entitled dick on the forums when I type a bit bluntly about certain upcoming features.
Buddlia - for putting together some excellent fact sheets in the wiki on how to use mementos and other game aspects. Nice one.
500 WCG years!!!
Thank You, Improbable Island WCG Team!
Thanks for the improved character count-down next to the chat input! And especially the bold, red numbers when you get below 10 remaining!
Thank you Mr Joe for the herculean effort you recently put into the new dwelling system.
Thank you Mister Hall for your personal fight against Lungbusters, and the reward is... a tripping, more active brain? Sounds like what I am living with, eh.
If you ever need something you can add with almost any food, go nutella. I sincerely hope it isn't as unhealthy as smokes (waiting for objective news from the scientific world), else I am doomed.
From thread Wiki items on Places:
Perhaps the description should make it clear that once the box is opened the items land in your backpack. They remain weightless so it's easy to forget they're there. Until you DK and then.... oh dear.
It's been said before but it's worth saying again.
A big thanks you to all our Mods. You guys as much as CMJ make this Island world the wonderful place it is.
Thank-you, CMJ, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you for the wonderful shiny new Problem Reporting System!
Thank you for making the console skin a bit more useable. Some things, though:
Loving the new font, looks very neat and tidy.
Maybe another version of the skin that makes that neon green color for hotkeys a more neutral white or beige?
Weapon/armor are still unreadable.
Compass while traveling is completely invisible.
Whether someone's physical description is readable or not seems random. Some people have white, some people have black.
Font colors still look a little wonky, as in, different from the Default skin ones. Maybe the font colors could be made the same, except brighten them all by the same amount? A lot of people use them to make their character names have a certain look/effect ('fading', etc), and the console font colors kind of ruin it.
Tree graphics? I understand if the light level effect isn't possible.
The HP bars for both yourself and monsters while fighting look very out of place while using the console skin. If possible, could a different graphic be used?
Somewhat unrelated: A Default - Silver skin would be Totally Rad.
Thank you for fixing the Factory-buff-stripping bug! It's been here longer than me and now it is GONE! Hooray!
(Or, at least, I just died in the Factory and when I got back from the Boat by Favour, I still had my clan aura, kittybike claws, plasgun battery etc. Yay bugfixes!)
Thank you mysterious stranger who gifted me a Programmers Box.
I WUV YOU FOREVER!!!!!
* does a happy dance and goes to make her PLACE that much cooler *
* does another happy dance *
* Sings I'm a Little Teapot *
The other day I was remembering how frustrating navigation could be, and I suddenly realised I haven't accidentally smoked a cigarette in months. Thank you!
Started paying attention to monster descriptions again the other day, for the first time in... well, probably months. Thank you, CavemanJoe; thank you, all you brilliant monster-writers. You bring an extra layer of life to this game that's all too easy to take for granted.
Edited to add: Hall of Fame! Yes yes yes. So much better now, and I love being able to reach bios and read mouseovers from there. Cheers, Dan.
A BIG thank-you to who ever anonymously gifted me my first memory. Just as I was going to buy my first one. Superb. Useage is being planned as we speak.
Still loving Places. I've been playing more and more and I haven't even scratched the surface yet.
Thank You Zolotisty, CMJ, and everyone who bought mugs!
Extra Special Thanks to Z for lugging my mug to the post office, boxing and packing it very carefully to prevent damage, and being a completely awesome person all around!
Thank you for Glory. It's interesting and fun and it adds a deeper dimension to combat. I both love and hate it, because on one hand, it's another thing I get to try and be the best at. On the other, it's yet another goddamn thing I have to try and be the best at.
Cheers CMJ for what you've done with the Hall of Fame. It's a lot nicer to use now.
The game is BLAZING FAST for me right now. Oh bejeebus cripes, did it get FAST. Thank you for all your optimization work, CMJ!
Today's thanks goes out to:
Sessine, Buddleia, dizzyizzy, and CMJ for being so informative and so damn hardworking.
CMJ in particular- a belated thanks for the new Watcher and Stranger content, and for removing "takes a breath" from specials, commands, and emotes. HUzzah!!(Stranger...still..creepy...)
Rose, That New Guy I ran into on the Failboat last Night whose Name I forgot, Haccadine, and Mitsuki...uhm...sumpin'orother, for being literate silly bastards.
I just want to give another shout out to whomever fixed the hunters lodge title change to work outside of outposts (presumably mister CMJ).
I USE IT ALL THE TIME and it's REALLY GREAT.
That is all.
Thanks thanks thanks!
Thank you, creator of the "The Merry Sous Chef" restaurant, just outside of IC. Thank you for a really good laugh!
I'd really like to know who's the author of this gem. If the author wishes to remain anonymous... well, what can I say except: More!
Thanks goes out to everybody's favorite dictator for pressing the "make everone smile" button and to Z for the shirt I just got today. Especially for putting my character's name on the package. I smiled for five minutes straight. Seriously, I'd hug you right now if I could.
Thank you CMJ! I appreciate the gift and it sure made my wife and I both smile. I was going to spend five dollars on the game for my christmas present to myself, and you know what? I still will. It's not much but I want to give something back to this game that's given us so much joy.
Keep on keepin' on! May your New Year be happy and bright! And to all of my other fellow Islanders, the same!
Thank you, anonymous benefactor, for helping out (big time) with the reconstruction and expansion of Persepolis.
Kind islander that finished the load of open jobs, thanks to you the place will be once again open for visitation so much sooner that I had hoped!
Thank you for the Merry Sous Chef. I had the clam Chowder, and I think my flatmate hates me from how hard I started laughing; it was well written. also, it's a bit late in coming, but thanks CMJ for the (now semi-old) new medic descriptions! I love them equally, especially when I decide to go for cheaper healing
Rohit and Stern is AWESOME.
(and I was just a wee bit paranoid of being jumped while on our way. Heh.)
Looking forward to part two!
(...not to mention FINDING the sodding thing...)
Thanks, CMJ! And possibly Emily!
Seconding Harris's post - brilliant!
I too was getting nervous as we walked as to where this was going to end up.
Thanks Mr Joe!
Thanks CMJ for the new snazy feature at E-boys ^_^ will save time of tracking about the island hunting for the goo prices.
Seriously? Nothing for more than a month? Come on, thankless people!
I want to say thank you for the outpost hitpoint readout in the Council Offices! Now we know if an outpost is breached or not without wading in there and crossing our fingers - and easier to find one if you're looking for one, too. I like the "there are 3 other people here" notice at the bottom of the outpost screen, too. (Though perhaps it will cause me to check the list of online contestants more obsessively than I already do... wait a minute...)
Wahay! Can transfer all (of one sort) from backpack to bandoleer. Superb.
Also, the new pub in New Home. I'm claiming that the real ale is named after myself, and I'm sticking to it. I'm not making the same claim for the lager though.
Speaking of awesome, I just looked at my character's page, and found my medals have been made super shiny! Thanks CMJ/any one else involved!
"This is a funny joke because it involves a pun, or play on words. Puns are funny because they highlight the pathetic inadequacy of organic language, specifically in regards to its imprecision in certain critical social situations."
Fantastic writing as usual, CMJ.
YOU CAN SORT YOUR INVENTORY!!! HOORAH HOORAY!
Apologies in advance ... this will be kinda long winded. In summary, it's thanks to all the people that make Improbable Island wonderful.
Clearly this must foremost include CMJ and the Mods, who make order chaotic and then keep the chaos orderly, in such delightful and subtle ways. You humble me with your giving.
But it extends to all the people who come here and write so wonderfully, and take the time to have fun, and create fun for others.
So, the long version ...
Recently I was sailing around on the Pacific Ocean in a small sail-boat for over 20 days straight. Not just coast hopping ... waaay out there, hundreds of miles off-shore. Now as anyone that has done much cruising on the Pacific will attest, one of the delights of sailing is when your course stumbles into the playground of a pod of dolphins. Dolphins are curious and playful creatures, even the way-off-coast wild ones. It's not just something they learn to do to get fed by trainers or tourists.
When you sail into an area where dolphins are, they will divert from whatever they are doing and come over to the boat en masse, and, well, cavort. They swim around the boat, they surf the bow wave. They pair up and do formation leaps out of the water.
It's a long story as to why, but on my recent sail I was often 'on watch' alone for long periods. Several times I was tired, cold, wet and grumpy. Then the dolphins would turn up. Sometimes in pods of up to 20 dolphins. It was like magic. I immediately felt better, and would find myself smiling at their antics. Pondering their life, it occured to me that they gain nothing from doing this. They don't 'do' anything, they just play. Sometimes I imagined that I could hear them giggle.
At one point I found myself thinking "if only people could be like this". Then it occured to me, that I know some people who are like that. It's you.
So, yeah. Thanks to you all for making me feel better. For making me smile when I log on feeling tired and grumpy. For having, and sharing fun.
A few weeks from now I'll be out there again. This time for about 3 months, sailing from California to Australia, solo. I'll get tired, wet, cold and grumpy; then dolphins will turn up, and I'll think of you.
First of all, in response to Daedalus' remarks above: that is damn cool!
Second of all, I don't know if it's been addressed yet, but I just started noticing that pack monsters give extra experience. Awesome-sauce! This certainly helps make up for the extra stamina-drain. Much appreciated!
I believe that's a bug, actually, along with the extra stamina drain.
Hmm, do you mean at the end of the fight? I thought you meant experience for fighting/running and other actions, and that's always been multiplied by the number of monsters you have to fight.
I was idly rereading the book just now .... and I don't know whether it's a wonderful coincidence, or whether CMJ has also read The Meaning of Liff - but I was absolutely delighted to find that Douglas Adams' definition of "Scronkey" is "Something that hits the window as a result of a violent sneeze." The midgets, they have a history! There is a proud and ancient tradition going back to at least 1983. So, thank you, Douglas Adams, and thank you, CMJ. You just made my day.
Thank you, Z, for accepting two of my three monster suggestions.
Thank you, CMJ, for the 10 dollars worth of Supporter Points. You're far too generous.
Thank you, CMJ:
for the new(...ish) inventory options.
for the awesome new stories.
for listening to us when you can, and telling us "NO." when you can't.
for helping me meet my lady.
for GIVING us a great game, and being a standup guy.
footnote: and for being as well as recruiting far better tech support than Microsoft.
(looking at you as well, Eb, Z, Sessine, and that urban legend that is Epaphus!)
(I'm kind of loathing XBOX LIVE, if you're wondering. Makes me more thankful for y'all.)
Can't take credit; it was someone else who figured that one out (I'll let them come forward if they want!). I do really like how most/all of the robots have clever referential names like that.
Thank you, CMJ, for a wonderful game with wonderful writing (especially Rohit! Gosh, I can't tell you how much I love that story arc).
Thank you, Torchwood, for being a fantastic clan. Whistle, bless your wretched little shriveled heart, Cassidy (miss you!), Raimar - we need to get on those shenanigans sometime - and others, both present and those who have moved on, either by choice or otherwise. Also a little shoutout to our newest member, Lippy McGrath! It's always nice to see someone so ready and willing to
lay their life on the line for complete strangers help out a dusty old clan. Yes.
Thank you, Ebenezer, for making Story seem so friendly and safe when I first arrived, and for helping me out with that issue involving an alt. Sessine too, because you helped.
Thank you, Omega, for keeping me up at all hours of the night and being an Awesome Person in general. Your time and friendship has cost me many hours of much needed sleep, and I don't regret it one bit!
Thank you, everyone who has put in work on the cliffside shack. It still has a long way to go, but it wouldn't have gotten as far as it did without your help.
And last, but not least, thank you to all of my friends and acquaintances who have put up with my unscheduled random comings and goings. You are all wonderful people, and I hope to share many more experiences on the Island with you.
Yay, the submissions finally got processed! Now I know which ones I've actually submitted and which ones I still need to submit!
I'd like to make yet another public thank you to Hairy Mary for the programming tutorials.
It is fairly easy to decide "ok, I want this to happen in this circumstance, and that to happen then" etc - but without having these tutorials so carefully walking me through how to do things, I would never have managed anything more than, say, unlocking a door for a clan member. As it is, I'm rather astonished and utterly delighted that my Observatory is working! Sixteen Pages and fourteen Program grids later ... it works. Navlinks appear and disappear as I wanted*. When you click on "look through the eyepiece" or "tilt the scope down" it gives you different flavour texts depending on the time and the weather. And if it's night and clear, you see different constellations from a Roll To Thought! I am so proud. And so grateful for the tutorials! Thank you ever so much!
And also thanks to Fledermaus for reminding me what the improbable constellations are, and also also thanks to presumably-CMJ for writing them because they are really funny. Sneaky Lion! Smoking Spiderkitty! Tentacled Friend!
* I still need a few more Add Pagelink and Hide Pagelinks to perfect it, but it works well enough anyway.
I don't know who fixed it, I know I never told anyone about it, but the italics problem is all better! So YAY!!!!
Thanks invisible people!
(The problem was that if I had a color, then used italics, if I did not add the color anew after ending the italics it would go away.)
And thank you Budd for the shout out. Is this observatory in KIND HQ? I must go and have a look.
The guides have been in a bit of a hiatus for a little while for various reasons, but I do intend to get back to it and start trying to explain why Thoughts are so cool. I've been using them more and more recently.
So, thank-you CMJ once again for Thoughts, as well as all the other various part of Places. I'm still in love.
Thanks CMJ for making the new medals system. It's something small that doesn't affect anything gameplay or roleplay-wise, but you still put time and energy into it. I'm all excited about what'll net me another shiny in the future.
And I noticed that the Stock Hog medal didn't crossover.
DEFAULT - BLACK
Except for the hard-to-read gray text, I agree completely with Awesome Fred and nominate him for president.
I am truly thankful to CMJ and his ever-present, always vigilant crew that make this such an incredible place to be. Not a place to visit or merely a game to play- but really 'be'. I am far from one of those players that you can just sit back and have a great time watching (you know who they are...)- but have never in my life felt as inspired or as free to explore my own creativity as I do amongst you.
I have rubbed shoulders with Giants.
And for this-
I thank you.
CMJ, Thank you for this game, the place where my imagination can run free and explode into a world of a thousand colors and voices.
Thank you for Places, which I keep calling Dwellings, so I can build the world inside my head.
Thank you Dizzyizzy and Hiary Mary and Escemfer for helping me translate Programming into Genni-words.
Thank you Pirates, PRATs, FOPs, and CADs.. All friends and family and people I love endlessly.
Thank you Jacques, for talking to me those years ago, for smiling at the idea of our two characters wedding (wholly symbolic, sure, but it opened up a world of stories that I don't ever want to leave). And for the Creator Bundle, which built two-fifths of Port Foley. And thank you for the leering Carl advertisement in the corner. That took me so wholly by surprise and made my heart leap. Then made me laugh, then made me update the Tumblr until dawn broke.
Thank you for being with me when I did leave.
Thank you Ebenezer, for helping me so much for that time period.
Thank you to those who remembered me, after a year being gone, who were quick to grin and welcome me back.
Thank you Sessine for the name colorization kit when I did re-join.
Thank you Marly, for being a wonderful hat-holder.
Thank you Ada, for the Comedy Club.
Thank you Micha, for being a crap leopard.
Thank you Maniak, for giving PRAT more than you probably should have, for your patience, and for the surprises.
Thank you Moderators, for the job you do, and the amounts of porn you've had to sort out. I can't imagine that being enjoyable.
Thank you Shi, for making me smile, Hairy, for making me smile, too.
Thank you to anyone who RPs a Midget.
Thank you to everyone who has ever said nice things about my writing or art. It is such an honor, and is so flattering. I don't know how else to say thank you so thank you a few more times.
Thank you, IIsland community, for being a group of people entertaining and kind.
and I think that is everyone... Sorry for the long list.
And just to make sure: Thank you again, everyone. Especially CMJ, for opening this door.
Welp, it's a long time coming, it's been too long since I've ever thanked anyone from this community, so I might as well start now. I'm not sure about the length of this post, but I hope you have the patience to read through all of it, unless you're being chased by some angry bees or what have you, then that's perfectly fine to skim the post if it's too long.
Err... where do I start? I honestly have no clue where to start, because I've been around for a while, jumping in and getting out whenever other stuff begins to darken the sky or what have you, I've been on the island for weeks at a time, but leaving for months, which honestly makes me feel bad because I felt like I was leaving a whole community behind, especially since I've made a name for myself, despite being so small compared to the others. But I do come back from time to time, which seems to confuse me, how is it that I keep coming back to this site in particular? Sure, there's other things to look out for, but when it comes to browser games, the island's the first one that comes to mind, heck, it's even on my bookmark bar on my browser (Chrome), just sitting there, waiting. I feel like I'm rambling on a bit too long here, so maybe I should get to the point:
So I suppose the first person I would thank would be the Almighty Caveman himself, CMJ. Thank you for this game, it feels different from most other browser games I've played, maybe it's because of the world lore, or maybe it's because of the community, which is surprisingly mature, which is kind of a given. And because of the way the game goes, no matter how long it has been since I've last played, I always seem to find myself back on its doorstep, one step away from logging in and coming back, and perhaps throw money at the screen if I had some to spare.
I can't exactly remember who had helped me throughout my current time on the island, as the memory is just a mere blur, and time is quite an odd thing, even in Real Life. So, I'll just say thanks to the community for providing me with entertaining reads (at times!) and some others for having the patience to put up with what I do in Story. (The island is actually the first time I've ever RP'd, ever.)
Speaking of patience, thanks to all the Moderators for having the patience to put up with me, through all the mistakes I've made in the past. Also, keep up the good work doing what you do.
What else? Not much else, but I'd thank everyone, again, within the community for being one the best communities I've ever come across. Ever. Full stop.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll have to figure out a way to successfully throw money through my screen. And I'm sorry if this post comes out as sappy and overall sweet, but can't help it, I think...
Thank you to the writer of the Meatling, because the Meatling is exquisite. It's been one of my absolute favorites since the day it first showed up--I stop to read the description in its entirety every time I encounter it. "It peeps with hope. With love." MEATLING, I WILL LOVE YOU
Thank you to Zolotisty, Marly, and Hairy Mary for inspiring me to get my butt into gear on my Place, and many thanks to CMJ, Ada, Buddleia, Full Metal Lion (Alchemist!), Nekops, Hairy Mary, Cherri, Marly, and anyone else I'm missing who've been helping me build it. It's been gobs of fun, and I hope I've made it fun for you too. =^-^=
: jumps up and down, squeaking with excitement
A THOUSAND YEARS!
Guys we've done a thousand years of distributed computing!
Look look over there, look on the left - - we've rolled over to four digits, we've done not just a century but a millennium for the World Community Grid!
A hug and a cup of tea and a plate of cookies and a bunch of flowers and a party hat and a puppy with candy taped to it and a great big huge happy THANK YOU to everyone doing the WCG.
And to everyone who isn't, I'd encourage you to join! At worst your computer may run a fraction hotter (and you can opt out of projects you disagree with); at best you're getting free Supporter Points and bonus stamina while helping to do science and medicine and save lives and the environment and other good stuff like that.
And thank you, CMJ for the Cool Stuff that you're giving us because of the thing the above post is about.
^ What he said. That was an awesome surprise! Thank you so much
I'm going to be a Parrot here and thank CMJ for the swag. The WCG just keeps paying for itself!
Even though it's a free, worthwhile service, and that statement makes little sense in that regard.
Cancer is so getting it's ass kicked like a [[CENSORED]], amirite?
Whoot 1000 years already.. feels like not all that long ago when we past 750years
Thanks CMJ for the gifts and for the double sp.. that was very cool, I made sure to try to make a nice donation.
THANK YOU FOR ACCEPTING MY FIRST EVER MONSTER!
that is all.
Yay newday! I've always wanted to kill it and now I get my wish.
(PS: Thank you for ALL the new monsters! I'm really loving them! I especially like the shady trees.)
Hey, thanks, whoever ensured that the Dwellings I'd made way-back-in-the-day survived the changeover to Places. (Sessine, I bet! You sly dog, Sessine!)
I didn't expect that, and I hadn't remembered some of them, and you might have made me cry, just a little tiny bit. Actually it was more like tearing up. And that was, like, all happy.
DON'T YOU JUDGE ME.
Rose, I have a new favorite monster ever.
Thanks for giving me the ability to dance. Nifty!
2010-07-22 08:40:04: Rookie Waverly emerges from Sheila's lugging a very large, very painful-looking chainsaw and grinning from ear to ear.
It's Waverly's second birthday as of four days ago, the anniversary of when I stumbled across an ad promising wild adventures and took my first step onto the Island. I have some thank-yous to give, to the people who made the Island worth playing when I really was one hell of a rube.
Thank you Ebenezer, for your Rookie Teas. Thank you Johnson, for guidance. Thank you to Mike, for companionship.
To Hellebore, for being hilarious, to Buddleia for building, to Sparkles Mcfee and Omega for including a none-too-bright rookie in your games.
To Carnivora Felidae, for laughing until I thought my face was going to fall off. To Props, for believing I could actually write when I put my mind to it. To Devon, for being terrifying. To Silcatra for being kind, and to Ryla for being lovely, and Kolojang for being the best weird villain ever.
And thanks for your ad and your wonderful Island, CMJ. Thanks for creating more than a somewhat quirky browser game- for building a community. It's a good one, and wouldn't be here without you.
holy shit it's been two years I feel old now
p.s. and thanks to whoever built the old Titan's Hole.
CMJ, since I missed your birthday, and "the unbirthday song" has been done to death, I wish to heartily thank you for:
So many awesome new Monsters~!
The Dada the Ambulatory Printing Press revision it is lovely.
The impending cooking and cleaning update (I am relying on that quite a lot these days!)
And the newest Rohit quest- I finally hit it- I LOVE IT.
Gonna go ahead and kind of mirror Waverly up there. My two-year Improbable Island anniversary came about two months ago now and I didn't even realize it.
I won't go and make a list of whoever I'm thanking because I'll inevitably forget someone and it's a bit too sappy for me anyway, so I'll just give a collective 'thank you' to all the friends I've made and everyone I've ever met here.
In a way, this game has given me everything.
Maybe some time I'll expand on that.
Also, thanks for the sale on Chronospheres, CMJ!
I am now Time Lord, God of Time
The fact that it's two even rows of two does a lot to help calm my OCD.
But then again...
Thanks to CMJ for the new food system! I WAS getting sick of steak....
This new world map functionality is the shiniest thing. I have before set aside time to burn my store of chronospheres on exploring the entire map, with the aim of finding awesome Places. I had planned to do it again. The new functionality has made it so much easier, so from this corner, a fervent thank you.
Also been trying a few of the new restaurants, or mostly just dipping in. Specifically New Pittsburgh, Pleasantville, Cybercity, and Acehigh. I decided that, by staying at Acehigh and never ever leaving, I could stop risking my appetite on whether or not I happen to glance at the flavour text.
Then a friend sent me several descriptions: the 'best bits', shall we say, from the Family Fun Food Wacky Factory.
CMJ, you are a twisted man. And we love you. Thank you.
Thank you for accepting my first monster!
And we can see where we are on the map now. Nice one!
Thank you for the laughs, writer of the Ziggurat dwelling.
Thank you for all being awesome.
Also, meeting Spark has made my day! I hope to have fun times with her.
Andd.....thanks for having a thank you thread.
Happy Fun Muffins!
PS: I love the foods! The CC404 Foods both terrify and amuse me.
I think this is a really good idea i like it a lot as well.
Thanks for the super cronos!! wow that will make building so much easier! The new anouncements things.. the new + - thingys.. lots of neat new updates whoo!
Thank you for the ANNOUNCEMENT BOARD I think that is REALLY COOL
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It's the new super cool super chronos! Woohoo!!!
To Caveman Joe
Thank you for story
Thank you for banter
Thank you for auto update
Thank you for
Thank you for banter in places
Thank you for the old food system
Thank you for the new one too
Thank you for New(b) Home, Pleasantville, Kittania, Squathole, Improbable Central, Cyber City 404 and Ace High
Thank you for the Watcher
Thank you for the failboat >.>'
Thank you for the ability to travel and role play on every square
Thank you for the in game time clock
Thank you for... you know what, thank you for the whole god dammed (which deity you decide) beautiful island, flaws and all, just thank you.
To the players
Thank you for tolerating my mediocre role playing, bad spelling, extreme lack of grammar and silliness
Thank you for role playing back
Thank you for being fun
Thank you for being the bunch of insane people you are (you know who you are)
Thank you for being amusing and interesting and every shade of amazing in between
Shi, thank you for being you
Omega... Same as above
Thank you for not dragging my third (yes third) main character (the others no longer exist) into drama in the past year of his existence (compared to the other two this is a record)
Again thank you for the tolerance, I can not thank you enough for this, it's allowed me to go from a bad roleplayer to an ok one
Thank you all
So many updates lately! It's made my island-ing extra exciting. Thanks for the great work!
Thank you, Full Metal Lion for keeping the Wiki of Lies faith.
Thank you, Ada for being so manically dedicated a roleplayer and organizer.
Thank you, Marly for giving me wonderful ideas for programming and monsters.
Thank you, Sessine for encouraging me to keep writing.
Thank you, team Improbable for accepting THREE of my monsters.
Thank you, CMJ for putting up with us, and giving us so many nifty new features(and cafethings, Ilovethemso.)!
Been away for a while and just need to say - wow! Lot's of cool stuff has happened.
And the new gifting station doodads!? Genius in the most awesomest of ways.
Mr Joe, I thank you mnay times over
Distractions! That's far better! Thank you so much.
Um, that's a thank you to CMJ for anybody who hasn't looked at distractions recently.
A sentbox oh my heart.
To CMJ, thank you for all the changes you've been making--from new stories to new food to gifting and Distractions and yes, Banter. They're neat!
To everyone who met me in my first few months on the Island, thank you for your incredible patience. I was extremely silly. You were extremely nice. I wouldn't have stayed if you weren't. So thank you!
To the roleplayers, especially those who write in outposts and on map squares (public spaces where I can read, that is), thank you for populating this island, for creating things and engaging the world CMJ's built for us. And also for entertaining me.
And to GERM--to GERM, thank you for making me laugh, and for tugging me into stories, and for being brilliant. You're wonderful.
What a sent box I have wanted that since like my first day thaaaaaaaank you.
Just putting another thank you in the box because I wanted to add some happy.
Specials preview works! The friends thing is gone! Thank you thank you!
Thank you for....lots o' things. Damn fine game, and a great community. Most recently...
...Sent mail -- yep, jumping on the bandwagon, there!
...Favorites -- thanks for trying it out. To be honest, it felt like it might have had a fair bit of potential for usefulness...too bad there was so much drama. 'Tis good that y'all keep trying out new-and-improved features, though...makes II a place not only to visit, but to return to, again and again.
Thank you for:
the writing. The stories. Since Sessine set my (and many other people's) Stranger Part 1 quest settings to 'did not run' rather than 'ran in terror ohgodohgod', I've been able to trigger and enjoy the second part of the Stranger quest, the resolution of Stern Punishment, and the fourth Watcher story. And then I finally found the 'Daughter of Chance' link. And it was while I was reading all of these that I thought to myself, "Yes, this is why I keep coming back to the Island, this is brilliant, let me study the writing style so that I may learn from it, oh I wonder where this is going, I cannot wait.'
So thank you for the quests and stories.
Just wanted to say a big thank you again to the Moderating team and CMJ for putting up with us, and giving us a completely unprecedented amount of say in YOUR jobs. I know we're... difficult.
Another thank you again to CMJ for Waiterbot, too. He's still hilarious.
Thank you so much, CMJ, for the Notebook. I love it, love it, love it!
(I just know I'm going to be buying all of the DVD extras.)
Aaaaah, CMJ, the Notebook is amazing. I love the heck out of it.
THANK YOU, SIR!
To who ever sent me 720 Contraptions and Contrivances.
Thank you! And I admire your patience and fortitude in packing and sending them all separately.
CMJ, the Notebook is splendid, as is the compact inventory option. Thank you!!
Woo, now I don't have to spend five minutes clicking links to drop a certain number of items! Thank you so much CMJ.
Wow! Bug fixes galore! Thaaaank yoooou!
Yes! Your long list of recent Bug Fixes is fabulous! Thanks, CMJ!
It's like Christmas! Except, instead of gifts, we get bug fixes. Woo!
You fixed the Return To IC bug! I will be grateful once I've managed to leave Squat. Clearly too much Skronk has collapsed into a black hole, pulling me ever back.
I just used the new inventory donate all the stone or choose amounts.
YESSSSS THAT IS AMAZING.
All these new fixes are really great. Especially the gifting ones.
You know what I just said? Scratch that. It's like double Christmas!
Thank you again for Waiterbot.
He's still @#$%&^ing hysterical.
Thank you, Improbable Island, for still being here.
Er...right, thank-you thread! Thank you for coming back!
Thank you, Joe for the shiny new map! And for being a sneaky bastard in your further Museum remodeling!
Thank you for the honourable mention CMJ (Arken Feyl)
Thank you for the New-Year's-Party-Christmas gift, CMJ! You are a beautiful man.
I'd like to say thank you to Omega for being a responsible person and not abusing the thank-you thread for almost three years. Three cheers for Omega!
Thank you, Master Hall. Not only for the cookies, but also for all the neat keen cool groovy renovations to the Island during my hiatus.
To not at allll rip off Tolkien: I love all of you. I've wanted to punch some of you in the mouth before, and I'm sure that some of you have wanted that for me as well. There's been our share of trouble over the years, after all.
But all of you, each and every one, are so passionate, so full of imagination, so creative, that above and beyond the game itself, you keep me coming back every week. Every week. All of you, at some point or another, in one way or another have kept me smiling and hoping so very many times in so very many ways I don't even know how to begin to describe. I love all of you.
Also, thank you again Ashtu, for this bully pulpit of thanks.
Also also, thank you CMJ, for choosing such sturdy coffee mugs to sell. I use mine nearly every week, and there's not a stain or a chip on it.
Thank you CMJ and the Mods for putting together not only a very conclusive and well explained MotD but also clearing up the rules and the Frequently Asked Questions.
It's really awesome to see a lot of things we direct newbs to the newb-wiki better explained (I'm pretty sure that's new, and if it's not I'm just lazy and don't check things nearly often enough anymore), and it's also REALLY AWESOME to see the moderator situation much clearer and crisp and detailed.
I have a feeling there was a lot of spell checking and rechecking and thought that went into all of those new things. And it probably wasn't terribly fun.
HAVE A COOKIE!
*passes out love cookies. Hopefully without too much love. Cause gross. I mean, overloved cookies. Those are gross. THESE AREN'T!*
Thanks for the changes to Places. That is a lot nicer.
The Customize Character link is a great improvement to the usability of the Island, CMJ. Thank you!
Gonna second that. I didn't realize how actually really annoying having all those options in like five different menus was until we didn't have that problem anymore.
I do have a few suggestions but this isn't the thread. Gonna start another one!
Has it really been this long since someone used this thread?
I'm back, for what I expect will only be a short few weeks, to check out all the developments since I've been gone; but I'm also here to thank CMJ for the years of effort into making some
magical improbable memories.
Thank you, CMJ, for making the Furtler candy bar. Which made me Google Furtling. And then made me do a promotional spot for the Furtler bar in NewHome.
Keeping this thread going because it is always a good thing.
Thank you to everyone who has given me a warm welcome back.
Thank you to CMJ for creating a place that always draws me back even after I've been away.
And thanks to all the friends I have made through this wonderful community ♥
Have I ever actually posted in here? Dear lord, I think not. Ahem.
I am thankful to CMJ to creating a site that brought on a community which encouraged supportive people to be...well, supportive. And that I was able to make a great friend and roommate because of it.
I'm less thankful that this same site is the cause of said roommate acting like a giggly smitten teenager whenever a certain Brit is thought about, and that she puns more than I, now, but thankful all the same.
Thank you, fellow islanders, for donating! We covered the server cost.
I'd have hated to see Minerva bein born into a world of red numbers.
If you can spare a tenner, how about lighting a Sparkler to welcome Minerva to this world?
Thank you, CMJ, for juggling a baby and the Watcher's account to show up at November's Cocktail Party. We were so chuffed to have you there. Thank you to everyone who came or joined in the chat channel or wanted to come but couldn't - I love you all, but I hope I've already said that elsewhere.
Thank you also, CMJ, for the Travle Ajents, and Down Below, and the candy bars I'll be sending to people with absolutely no context for as long as I can get my hands on them. They are the Very Best Thing and I still can't quite believe they're real. (I'm so happy that you made 'Hello.'.)
Thank you, II, for continuing to be an excellent, friendly, creative community. I'm glad to have been a part of it.
