The last three game changes have all been fighting related:

- Targeted Fighting - limited result impact, not much help at higher levels (C+)

- Verbal Defense - fun, non-intrusive, and gives one something to do with excess req (B+)

- Timed Fighting - intrusive, disruptive to game flow, and not well integrated with other fighting options (F)

So, now I'm listening to a metronome, guessing at server delay, counting, picking an attack mode, and developing a tension headache. Ignore the timing? If I get my tail handed to me by a monster I'll kick myself for not doing the timing thing. If it's there, I can't ignore it.

I'd vote is to deep six the timed fighting.

How about a new game feature unrelated to fighting? There have been hints at new mounts and new quests...

I can't speak about the other options, but targeted fighting was never intended to be a help... Mr. Green

That is, the idea wasn't to make fights easier; it was to make them less routine and therefore more fun. It's for when you're in the mood for a strategic challenge -- and, we hope, a laugh now and then.

I don't do the targeted fighting much, but I have enjoyed it very much. Plus, it's completely optional. I'd give it an A+ for the laughs it provides. (Same with insults.)

I'd rather see the timed fighting as a hunting option, that is, you can choose to do it from the main jungle screen or you can choose to ignore it entirely. I don't even want to give timed fighting a letter grade; instead I'd like to see it suspended or expelled from school.

Hmm. I'd been thinking of putting an option in Preferences for this, but it seems to me that it'd be a bit cumbersome to switch between, and I can see this being the sort of thing that people will want to flip between whenever the fancy strikes them.

We could have a toggle in fightnav to turn Timed Fighting on and off - and that raises one interesting point. Right now there are no drawbacks to using Timed Combat by necessity, as some people just won't want to use it. If we make it a toggle switch, then we can put in penalties for thoroughly missing the mark, which would even things up somewhat between people who use it and people who don't.

2 cents from the perspective of someone who's number one hobby is video games:

Options are never a bad thing.

I agree. As much as a pain in the neck it is to time it exactly right, it has saved my tail a couple of times. Helped me kill a Mighty Magpie. Won by 5 hitpoints.

I make the many models of a mutant individual. To make them I use vegetables, animals, and minerals. From robot bugs to zombie bears to many singing barnacles.

Houses

I'm more on the interest of,

Houses

"There have been a few fighting updates."
Houses

Can I add, "Can we please get something different?"

Houses

You know, maybe like some houses?

And don't forget, timed fighting is crucial for fights in which you have no buffs at all (*cough*Joe's Dojo*cough*)!

I could support timed fighting for specific, 'special' cases such as cage fights and Joe's Dojo. Those are supposed to be unusual circumstances where your regular buffs are stripped away. Yes, absolutely I can see a use for timed fighting there.

Out in 'The Jungle' we already have our buffs, verbal defense, and targeted fighting - plus other kickers like 'midget rage', 'pressure points', 'Tesla deployment', 'servo arm position', 'laser power', and 'overclocking'. We don't need another distraction (tick... tick... tick...).

Not possible to have too many options? I think it is if one of them is ticking in the background. Ignore it? Not if it can provide an advantage.

Egad. That's a toggle switch that I would never turn on, I mean, I'm enjoying timed fighting, but sometimes even when I'm listening to a ticking clock and counting carefully I'm off by more than a second, and that's ignoring the first fight command after starting a jungle fight, where I'm only exceedingly rarely anywhere near close.

I admit that I'm not a robot, but my sense of timing is pretty good, so if the cause of this isn't the server it must be something between the server and my keyboard, and getting my butt kicked by internet lag in a turn based game doesn't sound like such a good time.

Um, on the actual topic of the thread, I too am in favor of new non-fighting-related features!

Reverse snail?

Honestly, though, I wouldn't mind houses at all. Would be nice if it was upgradable so my former wealth can have, albeit minor, RP influences. I'm not RPing the size of my HAT.

Yes, well, it's not so much to roleplay the size of it, mostly the fact that you can roleplay in it.

Considering the drag-shack reference (oooh, sleur-hut translates well)... you're about the kind of person I'd expect to be. :p
