Thought that might get some attention. Smile

All right, so I had an idea a while back to create an amusement park, open to the Island public. It went up and it was fairly well-received. It sees some traffic, maybe not as much as I would like, but roller coasters aren't for everyone.

Then I got to thinking, "why shouldn't that entire square be fun?" I had some ideas, some that sounded good, others that sounded not so good, but having that as a public area for general fun never stopped sounding like a good idea. What also never stopped sounding like a good idea was not having to do it alone.

So, to make sure that good ideas could be implemented, I bought up the rest of the plots on 9,22.

This is where you and the contest come in.

The rules:

Anyone can submit an idea. Clans can come together and submit, or individuals can submit their own ideas, so if you've had a great idea for making the Island a more fun place, but haven't had the cigs, this is your chance. The land's available.

The idea must have elements of fun for a vast majority of the population. If the idea is geared toward one particular subculture or clan, it will not advance.

Keep it good, clean fun.

The prizes:

Well, obviously, the top three ideas will have the land go to their purpose, whatever that purpose may be.

The author of the idea will also get a master key to implement decoration or build jobs. If it's a clan idea, the clan can choose a spokesperson who receives the key.

My help in construction and perhaps even brain storming!

Helpful tidbits:

Winners will be selected by merit, not favoritism. The most fun ideas will win, whether you're my best friend in the whole world or whether I really don't like you. This is for everybody, so everybody should feel free and encouraged to participate.

The more fleshed out and well-written your idea is, the more likely I'll be to pick it for two reasons:
A.) Good writing makes me pay attention. Bad writing makes me turn my nose up. It's just how I am.
B.) The more fleshed out an idea is, the quicker it will be ready to go, the sooner happy fun time can commence.

Contest ends November 15th at 3 p.m. EST. Good luck to everybody!

Alright, then, I've got two ideas. I'd offer a writing sample, but... Sil, you know very well how I write, by now. Razz

Idea the first: Casino! You walk in, and you're greeted by something that looks like it came straight outta Las Vegas. You've got lines of slot machines, rows of tables dedicated to each game, so on and so forth. It's one 'room', from an RP standpoint, but there can be built one chatroom for each game from a game standpoint. So you'd have Casino: Main Room, branching off into Roulette Tables, Slot Machines, Blackjack Tables, Baccarat Tables, Poker Tables, Craps, etc. Each sets of tables will have its own NPC dealer written into the description, and while there are several tables, the same NPC can deal each one! How improbable(not lazy!)

This idea does work from an RP standpoint, but, of course, it would be even better with a module. How cool would in-game slots or blackjack be? I'd be more than willing to learn, code, and submit it myself if this idea is accepted. I know C++, so how tough can it be?

Perhaps aside from the tables and main room, there could be a backend opened only to employees. Again, entirely RP.

Idea the second: Video arcade. A somewhat darker room so that the arcade games can be seen better, with a ticket booth and everything. Similar idea as behind the Casino; a main room with several chatrooms branching off into game booths and such. Maybe a retro-style Arcade, so you've got things like Pacman and Bubble Bobble and stuff.

A module could also be written in for this, but it would be a touch more invasive than the casino one, since it would include a new currency: arcade tickets.

To be completely honest, I don't like this idea as well as the casino.

Just to clarify: my role in whichever idea(s) win are mutable. I'd like to think that if you spend all the effort fleshing an idea out to compete with, you'll want at least an equal partnership. I can be co-owner, I can be proprietor while you're the manager, I could even be a silent partner. That's up to the winners.

Just giving this a bump for Silcatra while she's away. C'mon, guys, I'd feel really terrible if I won by default.

I'd like to point out that there are already numbers of gambling centers on the island, at the Prancing SpiderKitty, and Raven Inn.

I'd like to propose an movie theater, this would allow for multiple different situations. At most of the theaters near where I live, it is common to have an arcade also in the theater, these could be a number of different mini games ( I was thinking Pong would be one of the most likely to be able to survive both the crash that created the current world that we live in, and the hampering effects of the island itself).

I would picture a movie as costing both stamina and req. Also, similar to a number of other events, a movie theater would be able to have a number of different outcomes, both positive and negative. You could see a sappy chick flick and get charm, or any of a variety of other genres.

Likewise the Ace of Hearts in AceHigh, if and when it ever officially opens. Wink

Ooookay, hey! Me and Kier have been working on one. A water park! comes with Aquarium, Water slides, Tiki lounge with wading pool, games, gift shop, and water fight cage! Still working on it, but, heres a (Partial) Discription here:
As you explore around the park, a colorful blue and teal entrance beckons you closer. A massive mural of exotic fish, sharks, whales, and coral creatures decorate a large arching WELCOME sign. The mural contines inward, ending as the walls turn into glass. Beyond the glass, all the creatures of the mural, and then some, swim within the aquarium that surrounds you. Down this long path through the aquarium lies the entrance to the Water Park.

From here you can see the many slides as they tower up ahead - some twisting wildly, others a steep slope down. The tell-tale whooshing of a hydraulic pump in the distance leads you to believe there is a wavepool somewhere. A sign post points arrows in every direction:
Water Slides
Water Games
Lazy River
Aquarium

also, no coding.

Um, moth/butterfly rides. Huge butterflies (or moths) that you can take for a ride through the forest for a small fee. I have a description for it saved, if anyone is intrigued. Just distract!

Umm, could you do me a huuuuuuge favor? The last dwelling on the stack, can it end in either:

`n`nThere is a supply crate here (would work best if one of your dwellings starts with P as well)

or a text pointing to a titan (fake one, of course, altough I reckon mr Komppa would probably be best to ask about that).

Oh, and if anyone is willing to add the titan text to it's fullest, titan warnings appear in 11x11 box (with titan being at the centre, naturally). Not sure if there is an 11x11 square that is fully populated on the island though.

That will be all

My idea is for a concert hall. This would be a place to hold events. It could be the home of the Weathervane Players (if they don't have anywhere else yet), hold concerts by bands (perhaps they would consist of someone posting links to music at the correct intervals - so even if you go away once you've started a piece, you have to come back for the next one). This would work participially well with signs (which I think are in development by Devin). It would available to hold events of pretty much any nature, the only requirement being booking in adavnce - perhaps programmes could be listed with upcoming events. I'm sure others could think of othere things it could hold.

A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a trombone; what else does a man need to be happy?

My dwelling is equipped to handle this.

I have a stadium, a jazz bar, and a Ballroom. 3 east of IC. Grand opening soon!

All righty then, this is a little late.

The winners are, in order of appearance: The Arcade, The Movies, and the Water Park.

Winners can distract me with more thorough write-ups so we can get these projects on the ground.
