So I'm in NewHome Right? Rp'ing with a bunch of other people and we were talking about Buffs right, and who has what and all that. I Didn't know what buffs a joker has so i asked and i had a side thought which i'm kinda curious about.

If the Stranger becomes a playable race.... What would the buffs be?
Right now, apparently if you met the Stranger, monsters die immediately after meeting them, but as someone commented... thats not gonna do.

I don't know enough about Races and their buffs to make a firm say, but i'm curious.

Discuss?

Since Strangers would take "the darkest points of Jokers and intensifies them" they'd be a shit race, wouldn't they. Imagine the worst possible Joker day, every day. Internal bleeding, -90% attack/def and 200% stamina costs. Maybe they leak radiation, doing a bit of damage during every round of combat, like a whoomph grenade.

Mind you, I'd still play them, no matter how bad they suck.

So, so lonely so: Defense debuff near 99 percent, trying to befriend everything you meet
Migraine Induction: equivalent of a zap grenade. Infinite rounds.
Strange radiation: Equivalent of a whooph grenade that increases exponentially for every attack successfully made against you. Infinite rounds.
All insult fighting becomes confusing insults. Sad and confusing.

Only helmet available is the Plague Doctor Mask
Only weapon is Large-Bore Hypodermic
No armor available

Best idea. We need Sad Insults.

"You're so (random insulting adjective), it's more depressing than (random sad event)."

Mutants and Zombies would excel in these.

I would almost call that a different thing altogether, "Nuanced Insults". Maybe a higher order of classy.

For strangers, perhaps more of a

"Your face. It gives me a remind of a person people woman I once thought knew. She was perhaps not my mother but perhaps. I do not remind her face anymore. But I love her miss terrible who I think she once was."

Your enemy stammers, unsure of how to respond. It gives you a hug, and its flesh begins to sizzle as you hold it so, so close.

There there, I'm sure you'll be on the Directors Cut of the Season 2 DVD. Or perhaps a cameo in the deleted scenes.

You have crushed me. I made an account out of sadness from this news.

I was very much under the impression these were to become playable, 'Things are about to get Stranger' I now realize I took in a different sense than was the intention.

I'm so, so lonely so.

Buff:
Creepy Stare: Your enemy just cannot get past that stare, You always get the first hit.

Well, perhaps I should clarify - if they ever do become playable, it'll be so completely unlike the rest of the Island that it'll be like playing a different game. At a minimum, no chat, no jungle fighting.

This is also crushing to me. I totally wanted to be the guy in the windowless van luring newbies to eat play Candyland with.

Strangers can't be that different, can they? I mean, sure, they'll never pull together into a coherent enough society as to found their own outpost. And sure, even if there was a home outpost for the Strangers, no Dojo masters would EVER go there. And sure, any wall guard at any other outpost, and many contestants, would shoot a Stranger on sight or run away as fast as they could, making access to outposts and the map tiles surrounding them utterly impossible. And sure, they wouldn't have any armour or weapons besides those suits and hypodermics because Sheila wouldn't sell to them even if they could get to outposts. And sure, crates would be useless to them because not only would they probably not know how to use half the things, the other half would be entirely useless to them, and even a profitmonger like eBoy wouldn't sell to them..

YES I AGREE IT WOULD BE VERY DIFFERENT INDEED.

Fixed?

As for a buff, for the hypotheticalness;

Terrifyingly Wrong: Monsters have the option of running from the fight, just like you do! (And they'd use it, too. Remember, no payout if you don't kill it!)

Monsters that run from battles would be an interesting AI feature. Like, uh... Abra. Or those mobs from Golden Axe that were fast, but gave potions and shit if you managed to kill them.

You have encountered That Damn Yellow Fox Thing that lunges at you with Cowardly Retreating!

As for the Stranger News. Disappointed? A bit, being one of the first shady figures with a mask in the woods, but I understand the reasoning behind it. We've already had enough Jokers that act like they can control reality itself and yell out 'I AM GOD PHEAR ME!' Had we the Strangers as a playable race we'd have the same thing, cept they'd be yelling 'I AM SATIN PHEAR ME!'

As for hypothetical buffs:
Half Life: Strangers start with a great attack boost at the beginning of the battle, but it goes down by half every turn.

I make the many models of a mutant individual. To make them I use vegetables, animals, and minerals. From robot bugs to zombie bears to many singing barnacles.

With CMJ's last comment, I can still imagine Strangers being one of those playable bosses during one cutscene of the game. Maybe we'll get a story quest where we are turned into a Stranger and so we have those buffs and that awesome chat feature for a gameday before we finally get to the Watcher unStrangerizing us or something.
