**grins** I like this. I like this a lot.

Contrivance: Drive Kill Rank (Greater than x)
A Contrivance that passes if the player has a Drive Kill at a rank higher than a specified rank.

Contrivance: Drive Kill Rank (Less than x)
A Contrivance that passes if the player has a Drive Kill at a rank lower than a specified rank.
NB: Not actually sure of the use of this Contrivance, but put it here for discussion.

Contrivance: Drive Kill Rank (Exact match)
A Contrivance that passes if the player has a Drive Kill at a specified rank.

If number of logged-in people in a room is higher than X, if lower than X.

More backgrounds? Fire, Bare Trees, Mountains, gently rolling hills...

Contrivance: Announcement
Puts up a limited amount of text at the top of the room description. (or could be settable for top or bottom?)

This would be SOOO nice for those quick things that just don't warrant creating a whole new page for and could be used to in so many places. (Think special of the day for a cafe)

Forgive me if you're asking for something else, Trex, but my inventory shows those contraptions already, though slightly named different.
(i.e. Contrivance: Drive Kills (fewer than x)
A Contrivance that passes if the player has fewer than a specified number of Drive Kills.)

That's drive rank he's asking for

Now let's see:

Contrivances:

Check Requisition
Check Cigarettes
Check Health
Check Charm
Check if Specific item is with player (Grenade carries won't be let into an an explosive armory, for example.)
Check Average DK rank
Check Other Arbitrary stat

More Specific Dice Roll

Who needs contraptions?

Slightly different, those Contrivances query the number of total drive kills a person has, what I am proposing is a contrivance that checks the ranks of a person.

So far I like all suggested
I'd also like to see a relative health. Which checks the percentage left.

A paid-for Gadget in the Lodge that will do all the weather effects as laid out in Trex's awesome wiki page. For those people (ahem) who want their weather in their gardens now rather than in 37 years or similar when they've gathered enough Contrivances and Contraptions for all of their outside rooms.

Given that the first DK anybody does is necessarily a rank 1, the above reduces to "Have you done a DK yet?" which is already covered.

I reckon the following might be useful.

- A contraption that adds a random number R to a memory or memory slot. Have a parameter N so that R is chosen to be between 0 and N.
( So amongst other things, use memories to store In Place Currency or other resources that can vary randomly. Surely some joker somewhere would like to build a casino?)

- Check against previous random number. So if someone wants to have five different outcomes and to choose between them randomly, they can have a program for each all with contrivances checking which range the same random number falls into.

- A contraption that acts like a NOT gate. Put it on the beginning of a line and the line passes if and only if none of the contraptions on that line pass.

I imagine "Is Door locked? / Is Door Unlocked" might have some use somewhere.
(If nothing else, you could use it to set flags in your dwelling. Just have some hidden rooms with doors between them that you can use to toggle things on and off)

I'd REALLY like it if there were some way to tell "Show Page" whether you want it before or after what displayed right before it.

So like if I had Room R, Page A, and Page B...
If Page A is supposed to show Page B given certain circumstances, instead of things printing out as
B
A
R

They could print as:
A
B
R

I don't know if that's technically feasible with the way things work or not though.

You've been reading my dream journal! Laughing Out Loud

Also:

- A contraption that could print the value of a Memory with a pre-set text field in front of it. i.e. if a Memory = 345, then the contraption could print out: "Your Winnings: 345"

Something something unintelligible gibberish something.

Not a Contrivance/Contraption and already mentioned elsewhere,
but I would really love to see a memory which isn't tied to players.

A Contrivance to see how often they've been on the failboat.
A Contrivance to see current mount.
A Contrivance to see current rank. (I'd much prefer that over results achieved in the past.)

A Contraption that serves a random page/room. (It's theoretically possible to do this with Memories and Dicerolls, but it requires a lot of C&Cs and even more ingenuity.)

A contraption that marks if someone has visited a certain room, not necessarily just the one previously? As in, if one was to change the settings or descriptions of a closet that is 3 rooms away, but after they've seen the kitchen, the closet will change. Such a description would require the recognition that they had visited the other room, before seeing the change. An interactive experience, if you will.

I think you can do that with memories.

Contraption: Anonymity

If a person in a room has met the contrivance conditions, their name in the room's chat is changed or can be changed to something selected by someone, maybe by the house owner or maybe by the player. This might be good for police tips, confession booths, dark rooms, and more shady situations.

Why, this is not just good for the sake of anonymity. I can, for example, set this thing with specialized checks to get everybody in my scene special titles and names for their scene they want to create in my dwelling.
