Don't know if this was intentional, but it was VERY needed...
Going over a new day, while still in the Construction Administration, allows you to continue to build with the Barn Raiser.
This is a good thing for now, since currently, it takes at least 1-3 minutes to complete a single task, except decorating, which is actually quite quick. But try adding wood or stone and it takes that long to complete.
Probably just server lag, with everyone trying to build at the same time. I am going to quit after getting a few rooms up and running and wait for the rush to slow down.

RE: Losing stockpiles
I have already used my Barn Raiser with the thought that I would be getting the stockpiles back at a later point (I.E. to stop people using the sudden ability to free build to massively expand their previously one room dwelling with 10000 logs and 5000 stone in stock). While I realise this might have been considered a mistake on my part, is there any chance at all that I would be able to reclaim any of the materials I had in my Dwelling's stockpile of materials?
If not, Oh well, I will just have to donate more and drink some more of that delicious delicious tea they sell in the Hunter's Lodge.
I'm not sure if this is really a bug, or if I misunderstood what's being refunded. I had 5 beds and a secret room in my dwelling (Tetto Rosso) none of which got refunded to my account- either the cigs, the beds themselves, or the supporter points. Is there any way to get those back?
Also, just saying- Places are freakin' awesome. I'm loving Pages so much right now. Thanks, CMJ!
I was cutting a room key, got through player's name, and which door, and then found this waiting on the confirmation page: "You're cutting a Door Key between the Rooms called '' and '' for Returning Contestant Zai, which will cost you 4 Cigarettes - are you sure this is what you want to do?"
In the 'dello:
Can't seem to get the door to a room to reveal itself for clan members.
I've tried multiple configurations.
C = Clan
H = Hide Door
T = Pass Through
R = Show Door

None of these have been successful. This wouldn't be a problem, except it's eating into my SP, so if I'm doing something wrong, or if the Clan contrivaance doesn't work or something, I'd really like to know, thanks.

Bug:
Place names don't show up on the Contestants list.
Name Location Race Sex Last on
Rookie Maniak places_712_996(Online) Human Male Today
I'm not totally sure this is a bug, but I just woke up from a 10% bed, and also got the "trim and slender" New Day message and ... um, another one of the "you gain some stamina" ones, but I only started at 110%, not 117.5% or whatever it would have normally been before. Not a huge deal to me, as I'm not a hardcore grinder, but I'm wondering if anyone else is starting out with lower Stam than expected on New Days?

I set a contraption up to show a different text in Hendrix courtyard when it rains Running program ID 79, 'Rain' at Room ID 301, 'Main Courtyard'
Contrivance: Weather at row 1, column 1 says: Currently set to pass if the weather is at status number 5
Failure at row 1 column 1
Contrivance: Weather at row 1, column 2 says: Currently set to pass if the weather is at status number 6
Success at row 1 column 2
Contrivance: Weather at row 1, column 3 says: Currently set to pass if the weather is at status number 7
Failure at row 1 column 3
Row 1 passed OK
Contraption: Hide Room Description at row 2, column 1 is being checked
Success at row 2 column 1
Contraption: Show Page at row 2, column 2 says: Currently set to show page 'Medium Rain', pageid 198
It works if I go to the courtyard from any internal room in Hendrix but if I access it from the map the Hide Room Description does not work despite the debugging saying it is. The result of this is that I have two similar descriptions of Hendrix, one saying it is raining and one not when I enter from outdoors.
(I accidently created a new topic for this, I meant to just post it here. Whoops)

This is a rather small thing, but I keep leaving Kestrel and Kagero asleep in customised beds side-by-side, logging on with Kes - once a new day has kicked in - to find the other bed apparently empty, and even being able to log off in it with no trouble. Kagero then logs in to find the following message:
You set up to take your rightful place in this sleeping spot, but someone else has already beaten you to it! Bah!
...and, of course, no stamina boost from it. Not really a problem for me, but I'm curious to see whether other people are getting this too.
...here's a funny one: I'm getting the opportunity to kick people who aren't even in my Place. A thorough search of it revealed no-one even lurking, and a sheepish Distraction to one of the names came back with the reply that there were in another Place entirely. Cue much confusion and bafflement and temptation to click the 'kick' button and see what happens.
(I didn't.)
----Screwup. Actual message in next post.----
Right- was vague as hell before (and my post is gone?), but I am working on the Place at 15, 38, and was givien a Master Key. I used it to deliberately lock the Place, and now cannot get in.
EDIT: Bloody hell. NOW I can see my first post here. Is this another bug, or the fact that I'm using Explorer, and at 3:30 AM? ><
Minor issue: Since floor space as an unfurnished sleep spot no longer exists, Furniture items will need rewording to not refer to the 5% boost.
I can't get the "Lock Door" Contraption to work.
I tried it with a gender clause, then on it's own and neither way locked the door I was attempting to lock.

Double beds seem glitchy.
First, both people have to be in the bed when a newday is triggered for the double thing to take place, no matter what. Can this be changed so that if person 1 triggers a newday with person 2 in the bed, person 2 will get the effect of having slep with person 1 at their next newday? (Does that make sense, what I'm asking for?)
Also, double beds don't always show that they're occupied, sometimes they look empty and when you get in, you've got someone there with you.

OK, I'm the first to say I haven't played a lot with the programming, until now. But here is my Scenario and Observations from what I've done.
Scenario: Room in the Dello accessible only by partners, using a momento as the test.
Try 1:
Program in Atrium:
Used Contrivance "Check if player does NOT have Memento" (works great)
Used Contraption "Warp to Room" (Commons): (Worked Great)
Program in Commons:
Used Contrivance "Check Previous Room": Set to Atrium. (Check Fails)
Used Contraption "Show Page": Shows text explaining why they were transported here. (Does not fire)
Found out the the "Warp to Room" is not setting the RoomID correctly. The Room ID being passed is the previous room you were in (verified by setting the Check Previous Room to that room), before entering the Atrium. This won't work in my situation.
Try 2:
Bought a Memory Slot, put in commons.
Program in Atrium:
Used Contrivance "Check if player does NOT have Memento" (works great)
Used Contraption "Set Memory": Set equal to 1. (will not fire unless Warp to Room is disabled)
Used Contraption "Warp to Room" (Commons): (Worked Great)
Program in Commons:
Used Contrivance "Memory Part Equal". Checks if Memory is set to 1.
Used Contraption "Show Page". Shows text of why warped.
Used Contraption "Set Memory". Set back equal to 0.
The program in the commons always fails, because the memory is never set to 1, even though that Contraption SHOULD fire first, before the Warp to Room.
Anyway, it's a bit frustrating. Using Warp to Room is an awesome item. But it seems to be overwriting the previous row contraptions.
Summary: Warp to Room seems to have two problems. The previous room is not set correctly, though the text SAYS it is.
Oh, and when you use a Contraption: "Show Page" to display Page text, it doesn't use the pages configuration as to whether or not to show the room text as well. In this case NOT to show, it always shows.
Minor, but still a bug.
I think that the 'Warp to room' contraption stops any futher program being executed. This is for the very good reason of stopping loops where some poor player enters room A, which warps them to room B, which warps them to room A, which warps them to room B ..., an infinite loop which would start causing some messy problems. So when you warp to the commons, the program in the commons doesn't get looked at.
This means that the advice that I gave Akitsu in another thread is wrong. Bollocks.
I don't know if this is a bug or intended, but chat in a double bed between me and Devorah show up no matter what double bed we're in.

According to the Debug, the room you warp too is launching the program correctly. The issue is the Contraption the row above the Warp to Room is not setting the memory.
Without the Warp to Room contraption, the set memory contraption works fine. It just won't fire, doesn't have time to fire, etc. before the Warp to Room stops the execution. (empirical data from observation)
I just got a 12% bonus and no flavor text for sleeping with someone, even though Dev was in the bed.
I got a bug which only shows when entering my Place
It seems that coming from the world prevents the proper page blocking.
There are 2 pages, one comment for males one for females.
Default is female. For males the female comment is blocked and the male unblocked.
I'm not getting a stamina bonus from sleeping on furniture if I don't log out between natural new days.
Find a bed before New Day.
New day comes.
I click "Is it morning yet?"
I do get a message stating I have extra stamina from sleeping in a house, but I don't actually receive it.

Also. It would seem that when you enter your building from the map, the first rooms Program(s) don't work properly. The bug report says they fire, but nothing happens. But when you come from another room they work flawlessly.

And yes, Double Beds are still a bit glitchy. :-/
Are Master Keys glitchy? I still can't get into the Place (that I do not own) that I locked at coordinates 15, 38...

More proof of beds' awful short-term memory, and proof that it's nothing to do with alts or customised furniture: a few seconds after new day, in 'shelter from the outdoors', every single bed (all Single Beds, actually) there showed as empty when they definitely hadn't been a moment ago.
I'm going to tack this on here, as I can't find where I saw the answer, but there HAS to be some way to speed up the builds.
This is a sample of the current building times for adding 20 wood for a new page.
Page gen: 181.604s / 181 queries (174.942s), cache 133 successful (0.009s) / 1 failed. Average for this account: 0.245s - 100762.144/411404
Adding 10 stone:
Page gen: 104.712s / 132 queries (98.987s), cache 122 successful (0.008s) / 1 failed. Average for this account: 0.245s - 100866.856/411405
181 and 104 seconds respectively, 285 seconds together, not counting the time it took me to realize the 20 wood had finally added... almost 5 min. to build a single page.
I know you have millions of wood and stone items in the database table that controls this read... but at the rate it's going, you'd have to be reading most of the table every time to have this slow a read. Have you tried re-indexing the table? or adding a new index to key off players better?
Or maybe it's just my character.
Please, I'm not being critical, other than trying to find a solution to this issue. I have so little time on the island as it is... so please, let me know if I can help at all.
My inventory gets filled with items without any description, weight or image. I can't use them, I can't drop them on the world map, I can't send them, I CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH IT!
I think the source of them is the scrapyard, more specifically when I fall and am forced to leave.

Trowa, did you get the stamina bonus?
Because I do not get stamina bonuses from sleeping in a bed. Or on the couch.

Double-quoting as it seems this is a recurring issue.

I've used a barn raiser to rebuild the mansions, and since then I've spent several days travelling round the Island. I haven't been jumped by a single beastie. Not one.
Took me a while to notice, and then wonder if I was just being lucky with the RNG, but I'm pretty sure that it's just not happening at all. I've been travelling in complete safety on less than 30% stam.
Is anybody else having this? Or am I just being phenomenally lucky?
Same thing with me, and Ogrewon was reporting it in newhome banter as well.

I just created a memento that will be automatically dispensed in the Bordello, but when I go to add them to the Places inventory, (like is says too in the text for the Contraption: Give Memento) it doesn't show the memento's as an item you can donate.
Am I missing something? or is this a bug?
Text from Contraption:
Give Memento Contraption
This Contraption will give a Memento to the player. The Memento will be taken from the Place's Inventory.
Some caveats:
* If you intend to use this Contraption a lot, you must keep your Inventory fully-stocked with Mementos to give! If there isn't a Memento available, the Contraption will fail!

Description: When I logged on today for the first time since the Places re-set. I did some fighting in the Jungle, and moved new Pleasantville for the morning. In my inventory I had the barn raiser. I used up the stamina for the day, planning to use a chronosphere and then rebuild my dwelling. New day, I bought a couple of steaks, went down to Central, got the kits, went back up to my old dwelling location, got the wood and stone back. I then used up most of the wood in one go trying to work on the dwelling. Realised I'd run out of stamina, having forgotten to use the barn raiser. Though 'oh, fine' and went into my inventory. It wasn't there. Checked my stamina costs, bought a little more food and checked again, and it still isn't there. I didn't use it, but its now gone.

Okay, so as it turns out, since the start of Season Two Monster Repellent Sprays haven't worked properly.
Yes, I know, it's hard to believe. Long story short, if you ever used a MRS, then your encounter chance was permanently set to half of normal, since the code that put it back to its proper rate was missing from the new Items system (IItems, even!).
Fixed, now. I suspect a rush of MRS at eBoy's.
I am supposed to be getting +20% from the double beds for sleeping with Dev. I am getting nothing. At all. Please fix fast; that's a huge, huge waste of cigs if it's broken, and I can't even go back to getting +15% instead. 50 cigs is a fuckload for something that is, right now, essentially a temporary purpose.

All right, where's this double bed. I'm on my way over.

`J is reserved for fourth-wall-breaking game messages, typically shown to newbs. As for alignment, I'll look into that.
I feel the need to protest the change to `J - This is something that's been bugging me since J's removal as a commentary color this time last year.
While a system/moderator-only color/text styling does make sense, removing a color that people can (or could) already use elsewhere seems... unpleasant. Especially if they can only use it in some places, but not others depending on a semi-arbitrary set of rules. I could see the addition of a new tag, but taking out a color (A rather useful/popular one, no less) seems like a poor choice.
This is not a big issue to me, so I'm not going to argue any points, but for what it's worth, I'd like to throw my support behind Beeps's opinion. That shade of blue is a popular color.
Time Contrivance:
It seems that you cannot set a time that has a '0' in the minutes box.
Set time to 18:00
Check contrivance and the time set is 18:0
Set time time to 18:05
Check contrivance and the time set is 18:5
The contrivance doesn't trigger on either of the above examples.
Type:
'weightless_' items
Description:
The 'weightless_store' and 'weightless_beacon' items do not have the 'dkpersist' setting, so they will not last through a DK.
Time Contrivance - again.
I've been fiddling with this (can't stop myself!) and now it seems the contrivance doesn't trigger unless the default values of 00:00 and 23:59 are used.
Anyone seeing this? Is it just me doing something dumb. It was working, I'm sure I didn't imagine it.
What I want to do is test for night time say, 18:00 until 06:00
Edit:
Trowa pointed out that the time Contrivance doesn't wrapped around midnight (mentioned elsewhere, though I didn't spot it.). So use two for a fix.
Works how I wanted it to now,
Minor one: the 'Set Memory' contraption has been mis-named as a Contrivance.
I think there may be a problem with door ordering.
Linking to my Fourth Floor room (2182) I have the following doors (this is the order they are listed in Master Settings):
In the page where you buy keys for people, there's no price listed for the contraption key.
Has anyone else been having difficulty with the Memories from the Programmer's Box? I placed one of them in my Place at (20,26) and named it "Reception", but the Memories list still said I hadn't defined any. So I tried it again, entered the same name, and the screen still said I had not defined any Memories.
Then I checked my inventory, and two of the four Memories have been taken from my Lodge bag. So, I tried making a Program that would set the Memory, and the "Set Memory" contraption can't find either of the two Memories.
Did I miss a step somewhere? Did my Memories get misplaced?

Also, and this may or may not be related, but I noticed the Contrivances and Contraptions that were in the box don't combine with the C&C's I already had in my building inventory. I transferred the C&C's directly from my Lodge Bag to the Building Inventory (because it worked), but they didn't add to the totals of the C&C's I'd already dropped there from the Scrapyard. Everything is still there, though, I didn't lose any, I just thought that was weird.
After I finished building my place (The House Of Jeeves) I decided to use up the rest of my stamina by chopping as much wood as I could before I passed out. Before that, I made sure to go inside Cyber City 404 since it's near my place, then I went inside my place, then I went chopping away until I failboated. When I logged back in today, New Day said something about "Go to place_xx_xxx" and instead of going to either Cyber City 404 OR my place, I got booted to Improbable Central. Now I have to lug all these heavy logs... >.<
Seems like when I log out just outside of a dwelling, on the same map, when I enter the dwelling and the 'see who else is in the room' thingy is on, it looks like my character logged off INSIDE the dwelling as opposed to on the island map.
A very minor bug, but seems consistent across a few characters.

I've been on the Jackalope tonight, at it's grand opening party.
Several times all the chat disappeared and I got moved to the bottom of the page. Usually when I wasn't actually doing anything (just reading what was there.) It came back as soon as I clicked anything (refresh say) so no major problem. But strange behaviour anyway.
Also I tried to GREM a comment at one point, and it took me to a previously unknown secret room. Which was an excellent room, but not expected.

Sounds like someone set up a partial command match with a warp to room. I know Maniak was toying with that idea.

Type:
'Kick Players' list
Description:
Owner is offered the option to kick out players who are actually in a different Place.
Where encountered:
From the Petitions. Details and link to screenshot in petition # 6334, filed under Bug. Reported here in order to include the following additional, possibly useful, information in a location that won't vanish:
The Place where this occurred is placeid = 67. The Place where the players actually were is placeid = 677.
Edited to add:
Petition 6366 gives other examples. What's happening is that LIKE is picking up players whose locations include a partial match on placeid. Possibly all that's needed is to escape the metacharacter '_' with '\'. If that doesn't solve it, might have to winnow the list afterwards for an exact match on placeid.

I, uh... I appear to have made two doors between the same pair of rooms?
Shouldn't there be a way of stopping people doing that? At the very least, have the Current Build Jobs list actually say which rooms the New Door is linking so that if you're setting a dozen doors at a time you don't get too confused as to which ones you have set and which ones you haven't?
(I can just imagine the error message now, something like "You've already got a door there, genius. But hey, if you want to waste your materials and stamina and so on duplicating it, that's your problem. Continue yes/no?")
Tree shadows (and, I believe raindrop graphics) that are used in programs in pages don't show up if the page is reached via another program. Is this intentional?
I've been trying to use the raindrop graphics in a pool in the mansions. 'Heavy rain' if you go down the wet slide into it, and 'light rain' if you climb down into it. So the main room and a page that you get directed to if you came from the appropriate previous room. I appear to just get 'heavy rain' regardless of which way I come in.
The big thing that this is going to mess up is the weather systems. I thought that you could just build one such system in a private room (private by being hidden, off a locked room, or whatever) and then in each room that you wanted to use it, have a contraption to show your weather page. But this won't work.
Then I thought, OK, you have a whole weather room with a weather system in it with a room coming off it (both decorated blankly) and then have contraptions point to this. But that doesn't work either.
As far as I can tell, you have to build an entire system, with all the grids and C&Cs that that entails, in every room that you want weather. That's a little excessive for anybody with more than one or two such rooms. Surely nobody but the most hardened of masochists is going to do that.
Am I missing something here?

Since it was said in the badnav page that such bugs had not been reproduced yet in Linux, well, here's what happened:
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Firefox 15.0.1 with Adblock (disabled) and DownloadHelper extensions
Went to "List Clans" in NP Clan Hall, and did middle-click-open-in-bg-tab on a bunch of them. Each instead loaded the same clan as the first (SWEET). Then the original page went to badnav.
badnav page repeats every time I reload improbableisland.com. Normal behavior restored automatically just now, after about an hour. The badnav page is shown below, even on reloads:
