I like Orchestral Music more than the rest.

Otherwise, Alternative:

Main bands:
RHCP
Foo Fighters
Finger Eleven
Fall Out Boy
Scatman John
Blue October

...Just to name a few. Admittedly, yes, I'm mainstream.

*shame* It is like picking a favorite child to save from a burning house when I put music on my hundred twenty gig iPod.

Freelance Hellraiser - A Stroke of Genius (The Strokes vs. Christina Aguilera)

I know what you mean, I've got a little 1GB MP3 player for listening to on the train on the way to work, which usually has whatever my latest purchase is, plus some 'favourites', and it kills me everytime I have to shuffle something off to make way for the new!

Also, I love that Freelance Hellraiser mashup. XFM played that remix over and over a couple of years ago, but I don't think I've heard it since. Thanks for the memory jog!

Yippee for Nick Cave, Muse, Freeland, Seasick Steve, Soundgarden, Rage against the machine? Just a band. Jon Spencer, Tom Waits, FLC, Screaming Trees' Mark Lanagan, Beck. Big thumbs up for those.

Yay! And agreement for RATM, but there's something hilarious about rocking out to Killing In The Name at my desk....working on data extract processes.

I feel like Tom Waits would be at home on the Island among all the surrealism.

So, after reading all of this, I realized my musical soulmate is Tor - anything he sends my way, I like almost instantly. For the sheer pleasure of sound and music - that has to be Zolotisty, a true audiophile (Z...I love you for all the songs you link to me).

Perhaps when I'm not suffering from a sleep deprivation headache I shall post properly in this thread.

Suggestions - System of a Down

I've got quite a lot of The Talking Heads

I must say that I really liked Grounds for Divorce a lot - I heard about it through Lelila. Also, Kai, that Talking Heads song that you had me listen to was good.

It's really hard to describe my music tastes. If I used one word though, it'd be lazy. Not necessarily lazy music but that I'm lazy and only really listen to one thing at a time. >.> Right now, my obsession is Freezepop along with an occasional Lemon Demon album. That's it. My MP3 is rarely on full shuffle or the like.

Other artists (full album) I have that I do listen to sometimes:
Jimmy Buffet
They Might Be Giants
Electric Light Orchestra
The CamPanulas
The Beatles

I also have a lot of good singles from various artists and some assorted techno that gets quite a few plays.

As for music dislikes, I lean more towards techno, electronic, and (some) pop then I do for rock, indie, and jazz, and I lean towards those a lot more than rap and country. Basically, I'll find it listenable if it isn't rap or country.
