maybe you could find a secret robot hangout-den in the abandoned factory of CC404...

Wow! A robot speakeasy, would you have to know the secret password? Either be told it by someone else, or learn it automatically the first time you play a robot? I rather like that idea.

And if all places are getting pubs and/or foods, I must ask...
CAN THE RAVEN INN PLEASE GET SOME FOOD?!?

Fair point. Often wondered what sort of Inn the Raven is if it doesn't sell beer. Maybe it could sell mount food to refresh your mount buffs for a suitable price as well.

I must say, I like the idea!

To make it easier, though (I don't know anything about programming, for all I know, this could make it harder, if so, sorry!), would it be possible to turn pre-existing buildings/attractions into said pubs?
For example; the Blue Springs Cafe seems the type of place that the hippy-kitties of Kittania would hang out, and maybe you could find a secret robot hangout-den in the abandoned factory of CC404...

And if all places are getting pubs and/or foods, I must ask...

It's been around for a while, and quite a few comments float around saying "where's the food/booze?" and such.

Looking forward to it all!

Bolded for emphasis: I think the restauraunts could become the "pubs" in each outpost...would make them more interesting, as opposed to just another menu but for food. Cakey could set up a small out-of-the-way outdoor cafe in AceHigh with his normal offering of CAKE! (Or death) and some ImprobabiliTEA. or something.

CC404 I have no idea. I like the Factory-Basement Speakeasy idea though.

And as far as the Raven Inn...yeah, some food or drink there would be amazing.

Isn't sanity just a one-trick pony anyway? All you get is one trick: rational thinking. But when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, the sky's the limit.

P'shaw. Bernard doesn't even have a liver. He's built his own activated charcoal air filtration system-cum-powered egg whisk and it needs plenty of tasty booze to operate it. So Bernard kindly stores the booze in his tummy until he can extricate it and use it for the power of good.

The tearoom seems to be a fantastic idea, to me at least. A place for the more mentally unstable of us to enjoy a cream tea while the Outpost falls around our shoulders.

Nah, I'm suggesting that questing in AceHigh is a right pain in the stomach, if you're the kind of person what likes to eat once in a while

You're only six spaces from Pville. Far worse to be questing in New Pitts, in my opinion...

I know that this is none of my business, but I believe the answer is 12. In my experience 12 is often the exact number of kids that have to die.

I hope my input has been useful. Thank you for your time.

Yes! The ImprobabiliTea would have an Improbable Caffeine buff that would act like a sort of mini Gargle Blaster and knock your socks off.

Literally. You lose any Boots you were wearing.

Anyone who orders the Herbal Tea gets sent straight to the FailBoat and loses half their XP.

Bah! Leave the food in the Cafes, Pubs are for drinking & socialising!

And I don't know about a Pub in every outpost... for the same reasons there aren't Cafe's in every outpost. Perhaps if a Pub was in an outpost without a Cafe, then have it sell cheap sandwiches.

However, a combination Pub/Arcade in New Pitts might make it a bit more attractive to... "tourists." (read: wall reinforcers. Big Grin )

Personally 'd probably play the arcades a time or two until the novelty wore off, as I did with Clatter, so perhaps to make it more attractive in the long-term, have a Pub in New Pitts selling Gargle-blasters - or a locally brewed equivalent - for slightly cheaper than PSK?

As a perpetual Joker, let me say this: "Just go to Pleasantville and eat there" is not always an option when you have a bad travel day. Sure, there's still a net gain in stamina, but I look at it and cry and say "I could have been using that to defend an Outpost!" Especially when it's a really bad day.

I like the idea of a pub in every outpost, and I'm particularly intrigued by the idea of a teahouse. Tea, coffee, tisanes, perhaps a bit of the alcoholic sort of drink. Absinthe?

The fact that something is sucky on a bad Joker day says absolutely nothing about the quality of that thing—i.e., whether it needs re-balancing, or is unfair, or is the best mechanic ever. EVERYTHING is potentially sucky on a bad Joker day. You might as well say that crates should have a higher probability of dropping near Ace High because Jokers might have super bad travel buffs and not be able to make it to New Home Beach to collect them...

Cannnnnn the Joker bar have a drink that works like an Improbability Bomb on stats/effects/buffs/other stuff? BECAUSE SERIOUSLY THAT WOULD BE AWESOME JAWSOME.

Will I ever learn to program things so I can provide you with code for it, thus making life easier for EVERYONE?! The world may never know.

Thumbs waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up on the whole "more pubs" concept.

Or, cocktail-of-the-day.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm not saying "boo, hiss, this is wrong!" The point of a Joker is to be unpredictable. Sometimes, you just get a really bad hand of cards, and it's no one's fault.

I'm saying that, to those who've mentioned the fact that PV is "just six spaces away," yes, it is, but I'd much rather have a Nifty New Feature. Six spaces, when you've dropped your Stamina down to the wire, can FailBoat you faster than Horatio on your first DK. (Yes, that is also entirely my problem, and nothing to do with the game balance.) Including some sort of restaurant/food with the pub would be a neat, useful way to do a Nifty New Feature.

Well, I guess a teahouse could sell biscuits and fruit cake and mayyybe hot chocolate with tons of cream and strangely sparkling chocolate shavings, but I don't know if we really want something that grants more stamina than that. After all, there's still rat packs and energy drinks. And cleaning carcasses if the day allows it...

Also, for Cyber City: A drink for non-Robots and Robot alike, Salad Oil. Totally not made by reprocessing the leftover bits from the Hospital Tent. Salad Green is Midgets!

I was thinking more along the lines of an expensive food item in AceHigh with unpredictable results. Say, a 200-300r biscuit or scone, with results varying from +/-0.5 stam to +/-5 stam, to stat modifiers, ala cryptic joker needle. Also, I don't know if the drunkenness module can be reused to make it so that your speech for the rest of the day comes out in various rainbow colors...

For CC404, 'Mixed Nuts (and bolts)', that cost HP in exchange for a small stam boost, as you break your teeth chewing, but feel stronger for having done it.

Other drink ideas-

New Pitt:
150 req- This is (from a) Spinal Tap "You feel a strengthening in your backbone" (Def+)
200 Req- Vitreous Humour "It's a riot to drink, and you can see really well" (Hunting Buff)
5000 req- Yudunwannanogh "You're not sure what's in it, but it smells horrible, tastes worse, and your brain feels like it's trying to crawl out your ears" (Effects close to a gargle blast, but at Newday, "You feel like zombies have stolen your brains and replaced them with wet wool." -5 stam)

The Squat Hole pub could have a ceiling 4 ft high, meaning that if any non-Midget types go in they get various debuffs for walking round with a sore back all day, not to mention, of course, a good chance of finding their req mysteriously disappearing.

Yes. Yes we should.
I agree with prior comments that suggest:
a) Raven Inn.
b) Flavored pubs (tea @ AH, short bar at SH, something robotish at CC404, and lord knows what at PV and NP. K is also a weird one to craft drinks for.

One thing we've been doing at the SWEET Network for several clans is having daily cocktails/movies/etc. These are just text, have no effects, etc.
But the point is, there's all this writing we've been doing by way of dynamic content, and some of the ideas have been pretty good.
We've also done something similar for movies of the week, etc.

Point is, all these ideas could live on, and it would be nice to have drinks that change, with effects that change. And I'd be happy to write some of them up and put them somewhere, if someone would tell me where to go, and what format to put it in.

Free text!
