I have never seen that bottom image ever, in my entire life.
Let the record state that when I was coming up with the stylized version, I sketched down what I figured the mask would look like. Chim was there in the board, watching me draw it the entire time.
Seeing as he and a few others are familiar with the way I draw, or style, as some would word it, I think they would be able to back me up on this, if need be.
As cute as the bottom image is, having never seen it until this moment, I wasn't aware of the slight resemblance. Until now, obviously.
I do find this slightly disrespectful, and I only say slightly, because I'm not sure what kind of context you mean, be it negative or a simple joke.
Please take it into account that this seems like an offense to me, and most people don't get very happy about that sort of thing.

I must say. These look nothing alike to me. You are comparing a wide grin, red eyes, and horn-type things to a skull that has yellow eyes and tree roots coming out of its head. The only similarity that I actually can see and understand is the basic, triangular shape.

As Z said - CHILL! If we have to start editing the backhanded humor out of our posts, simply because someone may take it out of context - well - I believe Chimental, Reverb and Ashtu will be extremely disappointed.
