==Edit:"I'm kind of a douche who didn't read about DPs closely enough, and am whining about donating to my favorite thing online."
Will I still be able to help others build without DPs?
I may have to set up a paypal account/refer a bunch of folks using the handy link supplied through the hunter's lodge, which would be a much better use of my time than pity-mongering.

That's... very improbable.

I'll go the same way as Z.
Which would go as:
"...Woohoo, tents. Yay. I am so going to make myself some outposts everywhere on the Island and around."
Except more excited and actually happy.
Yes, I have a dream, of electronic sheeps and linen bedsheets. But that's not the point. Or isn't it?

Joe? That is very fair. The Threshold thing, I mean. It's not DP spent directly at the houses, it's just DP spent in General. Just supporting the site adds a privilege, and I feel better with that as opposed to feeling obligated to support the site for something...

On the subject of DP :- Surely it would be possible to buy wood and stone for DP. This doesn't make it harder for people who can't donate much, just adds an extra option for those as can.
I was going to suggest having eboy start trading in these items, but on second thoughts, if they can be freely given to each other, this might open a door for req transfer.
CMJ. We do notice and appreciate faster server speeds (or I do anyway). New features are great, reasonably fast response is the difference between the game being playable or not. We're just a bunch of selfish fucks who are always looking for what more we can get, rather than appreciating what we already have.

Agreed. I'm willing to wait however it takes for you to get new features out, and appreciate the work you've done so far.

I didn't play Season 1, which may explain why I don't get the big deal about houses. I mean, which of the following sounds better to you:
1) I can build and train an army of scrapbot minions to do my bidding and take over the island.
2) I can have a tent that I can crawl into and giggle.
Does that about sum it up?

Or I could have a Compound that had the chamber where my character tortured his brother and eventually pulled a live dissection on him, until he chopped his brother's head off with a hatchet. Then he had an open conflict in which he got stabbed in the throat up to the handle with a chisel, and a circular saw jammed five inches into his shoulder blade while his wife got stabbed in the stomach and shot twice until she fried the brain of the assailant.

Given the fact they are said to breed, I had a feeling they were more then just fabric.
Much like a Gazebo is just a bundle of wood.
I make the many models of a mutant individual. To make them I use vegetables, animals, and minerals. From robot bugs to zombie bears to many singing barnacles.

Oh dear god... we can have them BREED?
Does that mean we'll be able to have different kinds? We'll need to build something with the House module to serve as a Tent-stable-holders Exchange Market! And a vet!

This thread explains a lot. As a Season-Two-noob, I must say I was completely confused by all the references to pvp, and spent my first week on the island paranoid that somebody was going to attack me.
I am excited about the house concept, despite understanding little about it, because I look forward to having more "long-term" expenditures (other than stats, clan buffs, hat size, tattoos, and jewelry).

I, too, am excited about houses and tents and what-not. It really depends on your gaming orientation. For people like KK and myself, Houses are cooler than scrapbots because they allow for greater roleplaying, whereas scrapbots are just a new game feature, like targeted fighting and insults (unless I'm mistaken, but I can't really imagine much roleplaying with them).
But also, Houses and Tents will be an AWESOME game feature in addition to roleplaying allowances.
