I think this is a great idea. I remember, back when I was a rookie I first didn't dare going very far from NH. Even moving only one square risked meeting a monster and visiting the failboat. With the limited stamina and newdays this was still a considerable threat. There were beds, but mostly taken. So then there came the first tentative exploring and the joy to find more sleeping spots only one klick away! (Especially the Elephant Centres evoke fond memories)
But soon those also were perpetually occupied, the decriptions read, and the search for beds was considered less important by me.
The next steps of exploring led to IC and eventually Kittania, thought I think it took some weeks to build up the courage. Back then there weren't so many buildings as now, so knowing to find places to explore and stay over night might have helped. The museum quest alone wasn't enough at first to send me away.
Therefore I think that really pointing new players to places around NH is an excellent suggestion. Already there are many great places near NH, and I dare say that Daphne or some players briefly mentioning some brilliant places even further away might be another incentive to make rookies explore the map sooner and over greater distances.

Daphne has put a sign up outside the Station now, and her guidebook is available inside.
Like most guidebooks, it doesn't cover everything, it includes opinions, and the instant it was published it started becoming obsolete. But, as of this minute it contains true stuff, and if rookies read it, they may feel more comfortable about exploring other places that aren't in the book.
There's also a reference at the end to her other guidebook, coming soon, which will give tips about how to find some of the most amazing places on the Island. That one will be called "Worlds Within."

I love the Guidebook. A lot. Absurdly. I just think it's a magnificent idea. And like many others, I wait in patient anticipation for Worlds Within, which sounds if at all possible even more magnificent!

I too like the idea for Worlds Within. Not only will I have one to contribute, as I am working on a Big Project, but I look forward to reading it. Thanks for the plug, by the way. I just like seeing people using my beds.

Daphne's Worlds Within is in a loose-leaf binder. The first page has been added now, plus a few section dividers, so you can see how it's going to work.
The goal isn't -- can't be -- to cover everything, or even to cover everything awesome. What I hope it will do is get people realizing there's amazing stuff out there, and they should go look!
