I think the new datacache is a success.
http://www.improbableisland.com/runmodule.php?module=serverload
Previously, once we had more than 110 players online, page load times increased beyond one second. Before that, when we weren't caching moduleprefs at all, we'd hit the 1-second mark around 80 players online. With the new cache system, we still haven't hit the 1-second mark yet.
Rookies in their first ten or twenty page loads stress the server the most, so I've been advertising today to see just how much this baby can handle.

Well done, that man!
(I've been on for the last few hours, as it climbed from about 50 logged in, to over 140, and didn't notice a difference.)

That'll be the New Day ticking over. Expect it to be a bit laggy around this sort of time.
(more info... seems to be MySQL doing most of the work. That's to be expected just after a New Day.)

Hmm. Given that the rate of players was increasing past the New Day and most of the players online are Rookies, it's probably gonna be a few days before we can get an accurate maximum players benchmark.

If there are 198 online then my having a 4-6 second delay when I click in the Jungle seems reasonable (not pleasant, mind, but understandable).

When I logged on there were around 170 players, and the game was playable. Sometime later it got a little laggy, then very laggy. At 170, it wasn't crisp or snappy, but I wasn't getting bummed out.
