We could always just have the current "Rank Zero" turn into Bernard Rank, and add some interesting dialogue about it when the Watcher approaches you in the jungle to change it.


A saint, a biker, a grandpa, an uncle, a luchalibre, a possessed maid, and a group of kids with a dog, groups of hoodies, curtain-twitching neighbours, loud music and advancing senility.

The above mentioned could be the only possible encounters on said Bernard rank, possibly added to via monster submission hut when necessary.



OH, and for every new day you start on a Bernard rank past the 3rd, you get debuff that says you're going insane in the membrane, and recieve penalties or buffs. Not sure which would be more appropriate...

I am sorry, but that wouldn't work.
Bernard holds the top Record in Bernard Rank, keeping this rank for... one and a third eternity? His debuff would be so high it'd go back to positive. Then to negative, and another time in positive. Then at an equally balanced buff and debuff, for now.
