well, i found myself on the failboat for the third time (dam that ferry man), and when i approached the watcher, i found a new option to talk to the watcher about her turtleneck. so i clicked on it, and a whole bunch of text later i was back on the island, and i had received a message:

Thank you for talking to me. It honestly meant a lot more than I let on.

I would love to come and see you sometime soon, but I have to figure out when I can take the evening off. It might be a while.

Meanwhile, I hope you'll be okay with this, but I have to act around you the same way I would if we didn't know each other; I could get in a lot of trouble if I'm anything but my usual self while I'm on the Vessel. I hope you understand.

With any luck, I'll talk to you properly again soon.

-Watcher

so, could this mean something in the future?

.......or haven't you noticed how many up-and-coming Islanders have disappeared lately?

Thank you.

Oh, pléase, not that one again Ashtu.

Xoyv (Strangely, this can actually be pronounced fairly easilly!), don't you worry, the Watcher is a rather kind and gentle person, once you get to know here better. I visit her quite a lot, both on a professional and a recreational basis, and we always have a good time, watching uncensored clips from the camera's and such! (It helps the has the second-largest rotary screen of the entire island, of course Wink )

This from a woman who is a known collaborator with the Island's maniacal monarch? What part(s) of the ex-contestants does she share with you, Reverb?

Thank you.

Actually....that's my fault.

I spoke to the Watcher about her taste in clothes just the other day when she caught me in her secret boudoir*. See, I consider myself something of an expert in women's clothing.** So I told her, "Girlfriend, those skintight pants are to die for*** but that sweater?--No one, and I mean no one, goes out in public with those Joan Crawford shoulder pads**** these days. She just smiled in bemusement.*****

I haven't noticed any repercussions.****** She's such a forgiving friend.

So chat with her all you like. She gets lonely, you know.*******

_____

* Yet again. But for the record, this time most emphatically she did not catch me wearing her paisley peasant blouse and Daisy Duke shorts. Any reports to the contrary are rumor and nothing but.

** Plus, she and I wear the same size ... and we're both "winters."

*** Especially if they cut off the circulation.

**** Unless they're made out of real Joan Crawford.

***** Though with all those teeth, it's hard to tell one expression from another.

****** The loss of 75% of my stamina at the start of every day is pure coincidence. Has to be.

******* Feeding everyone who visits you to the caged monsters below deck tends to do that. Cover yourself in barbecue sauce before you visit her. That tells her you're thinking of her pets' dining experience, and she'll find it touching. She'll still feed you to them, of course, but she'll smile while she does it.

Is the Watchers name Ramius?

I gave a ciggie to a creapy old man in the jungle, and in response...

"He cackles with glee. He turns to you and says, "Since y' made such a fine bargain w' me, me deary, I'll be puttin' in a good word for y' with m' ol' friend The Watcher."

The Joker pulls out a black wand, raps you thrice on the head, and runs off into the jungle.

You gain 8 favor with Ramius."

Doesn't it normally say "You gain 8 favor with The Watcher"?
HAVE WE FINALLY BEEN GRANTED KNOWLEDGE OF HER NAME?!?

Conversion Table Bug, i'd say.

We KNOW the name of the watcher. It's seven letters long, and starts with W...

Yeah.

Wendigo.

For those who don't know your mythology, Wendigo is a big kittymorph that loves to be petted.

It only leads to trouble
And seat wetting.

Isn't sanity just a one-trick pony anyway? All you get is one trick: rational thinking. But when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, the sky's the limit.
