It looks like there is no way to transfer just plain DPs to people any more.

While I love the idea of getting items for gifts, I would like to have the give DP option still. This has become a small problem for me already because when I do character artwork for people, I ask for them to pay me in DP. I'd like to keep some points on hand for secret rooms and/or possible new features!

Is the DP gift option coming back some time in the future? (If so, is there a general time-frame? I've already got someone holding off DP for me).
Or is it gone for good?
