I'm sure I'm not the only person on the Island who has spent some* of their free time mining/fighting/running in the wonderful world of Minecraft. So I just thought I'd mention that one of my friends will be hosting a free server for those who would like to check it out. I'll post the link and information here when the server goes up.** This thread is open to anyone who feels like showing up, and for posting any creations you've made, be they island related or not.***
*Yeah. Some. Surely not half of your day. No indeed.
**We need a day or so to get everything up and running, and a little time to make sure it all works.
***Though if they are island related, that would be pretty cool. And almost enough of a reason to keep this thread here.

I have Minecraft, though I rarely play it because I can never get too far into it. I start to build something and then stop caring before I'm even halfway done.
This makes me feel bad, because the game was a gift. :X

Excellent. I think I've just about outgrown the little mountainside I claimed on the last MP server I joined. Who do I talk to to get material orders filled?

You'd need to talk to a mod about orders. (Me, the owner, or a few others.) But the server itself will probably be standard, same as single player survival. (Meaning no item spawning unless given by a mod/admin.)

I have heard of this MineCraft of which you speak. It is featured on most of the many, many game development blogs I have in my Google Reader.
I want a native Linux version that'll run on my crappy old laptop.
And also the free time to play it.

Well, if you ever want to play, you're more than welcome to try the server once it's up. (Assuming you can find a way to play it. Maybe a windows emulator?)
And for those who are wondering about the game, maybe thinking of buying it, (Only $15 while it remains in alpha. (That's 50% off for reference.)) here is a series of amazing videos that will take you through the basics of the game, and show you just what to expect.

Already done. Or something similar. Linux users have to download the source and compile it themselves, but once you've done that, its fine.

Alright, we have the server up and running. Excuse any hitches that may occur, we're still ironing out some bugs. But the game itself is playable for now.
Server is 173.212.91.179 And my username is GnomeKing. Feel free to use it, it should remain up indefinitely.

Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I am tempted to rebuild my aqueduct transport system in your server.

Update: The server is now running with almost no lag. The only issue now is with the server code itself, which we have no control over. So consider it up and running.
Once more, the IP is 173.212.91.179
Hope to see people there.
