Okay so I'm gonna try to do some Monday Updates on what Emily and I have been doing the previous week, and what we plan for the upcoming week.
This week, we've mostly been working on our time-and-weather system. This is mostly descriptive writing. We've defined seven time zones:
Dawn
Sunrise
Morning
Afternoon
Sunset
Dusk
Night
And seven weather conditions, with one being hot-as-hell (during the day) or brass-monkeys-cold (at night) and seven being massive thunderstorms. We've also written in the ability to do flavour text for transitional periods too (sometimes we'll want to talk about how it's just stopped raining). Without the transitions, that's 49 descriptions per Outpost, so we've got a fair bit of work to do - all the descriptions have to be good, otherwise what's the point?
Granted, some of the descriptions can be merged together or skipped. For example, morning and afternoon are pretty much just "day", and we can roll Dawn and Dusk together into Twilight, and Sunrise and Sunset can handle the same description if you just mention that the sky is red, not that the sun is going down or coming up. We'll only start doing that if we get completely and totally sick of doing this.
I've also been doing some minor bugfixes and performance improvements, as always, and we did the whole "Hey guys here's a browser game that cures cancer" thing too, but it didn't exactly set the Internet on fire because it was distracted by some old lady ripping off someone's recipes.

I love this idea. More flavor is always good, and it has bothered me a little about how the Island is (apparently) always sunny, all the time.
Though (and you've probably thought of this), maybe this can extend beyond the outposts? Nothing major, simply different text in place of "you stop to think about what a nice day it is" or whatever it says. I've read it so many times, I don't even remember. Just a quick little blurb about X time of day and Z weather condition.

Yeah, it was partially annoyance at that "You think what a nice day it is" text that pushed me over the edge into doing this thing. I do the maths in my Twitter account - which I've just realised that I haven't linked to, anywhere at all. Whoops.

So tonight I'm taking a break from the Intimidatingly Overambitious Flavour Text Project to try to do one of my patented "Thinking about it to coding it to testing it to releasing it all in one night" modules. A race around the world map.
Wish me luck!

Well then... could you rectify this? I will subscribe to you and probably send all sorts of tweets that I don't realize are not as witty as I think they are.

on our original topic; (I know, i know, i should be ashamed of myself..)
I always considered the "beautifull day today" as a bit.. improbable.
In other words, why not? Maybe the drive doesn't like rain.

There already is a weather forecast for the island, available at http://enquirer.improbableisland.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=weather and I often say, when passing through PV, that I'm passing through the perpetual drizzle, which is what I'd expect there, as that is what suits mutants (with their upbeat, cheerful personalities). The weather page the wiki in fact is very much what you should expect in these places.

I know this was mentioned elsewhere where the weather system was talked about, but will there be Improbable weather? Not to add oodles of work on, but I'd love to see "Forecast for today: 32F, cloudy with a chance of snowcones."
Now I'm feeling like a lazy ass for not getting the module I was working on set up already. Chalk it up to still learning the system. And laziness.

This, I think, is An Excellent Idea.
It's all to easy for us, well, for me at least, to forget how much you and Emily are actually doing in the background. And creating a little bit of anticipation is an added bonus.
This week, we've mostly been working on our time-and-weather system. ....
Sounds awesome.
As always.
