I, being enough of a Mac fanboy to buy Apple products upon release (but still sane enough to whine continuously about them), upgraded to OSX Lion despite my previous reservations.

One of the "upgrades" added Autocorrect to every single bloody place I can type. It's not nearly as extensive as the iOS version, but one thing it loves to do is change three periods to ellipses. I remember this being one thing mentioned specifically after the cataclysm as something word processors do. Do I have to shut it off to do deco work?

I would guess yes. If you can at all help it, find a plain text editor like Notepad. I don't know what Mac OS has for that kind of thing.

They don't have anything, as far as I can tell, now that autocorrect overlays everything to ellipse my ellipses. I always typed right in the box to make sure.

For those of you also on lion, you can right-click (whatever you've got your secondary click set to), choose "Spelling and Grammar", and uncheck "Correct spelling automatically".

Except suddenly, it doesn't seem to be an option in island boxes, and the autocorrect is off.

Huh.
