I'm not sure how feasible this would be, but I would lovelovelove to see doors that can only be opened from one side.[1]
But think of the possibilities! Getting "trapped" [2] in closets, bathrooms, wine cellars [3], etc. is one good one, but I'm also thinking of a more basic situation -- a back door to the grounds that one can't get back in through, that sort of thing.
It's an idea.
Also, is it at all feasible that inventories could ever become accessible in places? I'm specifically thinking about a really cool thing to implement, but it would be best done by being able to leave Mementos in specific rooms.
[1] I'm assuming this doesn't exist right now based on the threads I've read; being way too intimidated as a noob to play with Places I have not yet determined this empirically.
[2] Unless the "return to map" option can be disabled, this wouldn't be truly possible, but it would make for fun RP stuffs. Especially if the Place writers put something in about eject capsules or whatnot.
[3] Oh NOES.

One way doors are very definitely possible right now. You set the door to unlocked, and then have a program on the side that you don't want it to be accessible from to lock/hide it. Alternatively, set it to locked/hidden, and have a program on the side that you do want it to be accessible from to unlock/show the door.
I think that there should always be some way out, otherwise we'll start having characters permanently stuck in places. Consider what happens if somebody builds such a place and then leaves the Island for whatever reason. Somebodyelse could essentially lose their character altogether! Having the only way out being leaving the place altogether and having to "start again" is close enough I'd say.
As for the mementos idea, there are ways of giving out mementos (and taking them back again). I'm not sure quite what you have in mind, but there's probably some way of doing it with sufficient ingenuity.

I'm thinking about a setting that would disable the "Back to the Map" link. BUT. It would have to be a Lodge item, and it would come with the caveat that if we ever get a Petition from someone stuck in your Place, you lose it and have to buy it again.

That's fair. Yes, please!

You could also make a room with no doors, and have another room that warps the person to that room upon entering. At least, based on what I've seen on the Beta side.
So:
Room A
Room B
Room C
Room A has a door to Room B.
Room B has a program that warps the player to Room C.

I'm experimenting with this at the bar. I've built a maze consisting of eleven rooms and an obscene amount of doors. This is how it's supposed to work, with each of the smaller pips being a 'dead end' or 'wrong choice' door. It doesn't quite work this way in practise, but... I'll figure it out.
