We have been hit by a new variation on spam. I am leaving the posts undeleted for a little while so that CMJ can look into blocking strategies. Please don't post lovely witty replies to them that will make me sad about having to delete your fine messages along with the garbage, because that is going to happen very soon.
You can help by posting replies to this thread if it gets pushed down the list, to keep it on top so that other people will also see that yes, we do indeed know about the situation.

Seems about right to me. If I recall, the Anonymous Posting feature was removed as a result of the first wave of spam that came along, all posted by anonymous users. It was kind of like the Wall around Outpost Enquirer got breached for an hour or two. I think a few players who participated in the first HORRIBLY DEADLY waves of the first Outpost breaches when the feature was new and turned up to eleven had severe mental breakdowns and PTSD episodes... Or maybe that was just me...
Sometimes... I can still smell the bodies in the Trench...
And AiB was posted in Squat Hole, so the flashbacks have *that* smell, too!

I've got no idea about any legal implications, but...
DO make sure that you've got your back covered.
DON'T assume that that will be the end of it and that they won't try to hit back. I don't know what the odds are, but there's a real chance that they'll try.
DON'T think that you'll stop somebody else doing much the same thing six months down the line.
DO expect to spend far more time and effort than just the initial attempt.
TREAT as very real the possibility that you'll end up in one of those ludicrous fights where the best way to win, or more accurately lose least, is to get out as soon as you can.
