I sincerely wish that Places would take after the Dwellings system with naming rooms, making them not only free actions, but immediate. It's more than a little vexing to set up rooms and have to run back for a kit just to name them.
As a bonus in efficiency, an option to name the room as we are setting up its build job would be incredible.

I do think Sneaky's suggestion a reasonable one from the point of view of a builder's workflow. Naming (or renaming) a room isn't decorating, it's more like setting up a plan for decorating.
If there's any change made in this area, I'd like to make a supplementary request for a check on the value of the name that was input, before the database is updated. If it's blank, please substitute a default value. ("Blank Room" would do!)
When a room has no name, it becomes inaccessible to future changes. Every so often I have to use Super Mod Powers to help a Place builder who has accidentally left the name of a room blank when decorating. It's an easy mistake to make! I don't know how many people might have run into this issue and just been frustrated, unaware that I could help.
