Something that I've been coming across lately is this little piece of text that sometimes pops up in post-battle texts. I think I forget exactly what it says, so here is what I remember of the text that pops up:

"You found a present! How awesome! You pick it up and stuff it in your backpack!"

Only thing is, I'll go and check my backpack right after to see what it was talking about, but there doesn't seem to be anything added to the backpack any time I get this text to pop up. I've had it show up a handful of times now, but every time, nothing happens. Nothing in the backpack is new, nor any change to anything else like the bandolier or my cig count. So, maybe a glitch of some kind? Or a piece of text that's not supposed to be there? Any help would be appreciated in trying to get my head around what's going on.

I think I know what your problem is: There's a monster called New Day that's a spoof of the New Day screen you get every game day. The text is pretty funny and full of dumb jokes, including the message you get when you win a battle ("You found a present!"). So, no, you're not supposed to get a present, and yes, the text is supposed to be there.

I think a few people have found that monster confusing, like you, but once you get it it becomes a lot funnier (in my opinion!)

Went to go see if I could find that New Day monster to make sure, managed to have it be my first monster of the game day. And yep, it's looking like it's just one of those 'you killed the monster' texts. Guess I look stupid now. I guess it was the fact that the first sentence of it is in bolded purple that made me think it was supposed to be for real, along with it not mentioning the monster you defeated at all. I tend to just churn through monsters while barely taking in what I'm facing now, so that's probably another reason as well. Well, at least I can hope my idiocy might help anyone else who similarly got confused over it. Thanks for helping me out Escemfer.
