Well I've finally decided to throw my two coins of legal tender into the ring, or something. I'm clearly a new poster, but I've been on the Island for about 3 months now, maybe more. I know nothing about computers so I may be expecting too much, we shall see. Anyway.
1. More improbable nature of Drive Kills. I've always found it odd that, upon being irradiated with the ruptured Drive, that we then get to choose what we turn out as, I'd like it to be a bit more random, so there is a chance to become either of the starting races on your first drive kill, with no input from you, this can go on until a certain point where you " Retain enough probability to become what you wish", I think it just makes the game more interesting, and so there isn't a surfeit of one kind of race over another due to the kinds of buffs/ debuffs they have.
2. In relation to your own "evil idea" CMJ, and the fact that, although I do creative writing, Role-playing is never something I've been good at, also keeping-perhaps in the theme of the game- the system alters your speech if you talk about the number of drive kills, etc. your character has had, in a non OOC area, I see something in the ro/gobots text being "oh yeah I totally kicked the Drive's arse 13 times" as " oh yeah I totally kicked the bzzzxxrch zzzch ++speech mode malfunction++". I can see this happening with Midget's developing tourette's, or at least as sweary as you decide them to be. As I said though, this only has to be in roleplaying areas for OOC places, like clan halls or the pubs, they can be used.
3. A perhaps more plausible idea that newbies get to learn how to make the text colours from the off, rather then happening to stumble across the raven inn, at least that was the only way I found out, but then I've never been good at interacting with people.
Anyway my ideas are finished, it may be long but I hope it has caused you as much gratification as it has done for me.

Ooh. I love the idea of #1. I also hate it, because I'm such a Kittymorph, but it would probably be good for me to try out being different races.
What if you had to cycle through the races at least once before you get to choose? (I don't know how possible/desireable that is, especially since some races are only available after a certain number of drive kills.) Or maybe you get to choose 90% of the time, but every now and again, your race is chosen for you.

If your race is chosen, then you should get some sort of buff. Maybe some extra req to start with, or a couple of ciggies (ESPECIALLY if you turn out to be a zombie). Right now I'm cycling through the races again. I usually play a gobot, and I'm positively whimpering and drooling at the thought of being able to be a foebot. At any rate, I thought it would be interesting to play with different races and implants again.

I don't have any problems with the separate races myself, I've seemed to manage as any character, I'd just like a bit more improbability in the island, at least I believe it's what I'm trying to get at. More races would of course make things more interesting in the randomness of it.

To add to the thread, it would be interesting if a particular monster wounds you -- say by half your HPs -- your race is stripped from you, and you become a blob ala the race change thing at the PSK.
Similarly, it would be interesting if a critter encounter could inflict a bleeder on you (ala internal bleeding with jokers) which lasts for, say 100 rounds or so.
Or have a critter that can inflict drunkenness (poison dart), so you end up having your speech output run through a speech converter (ala, talk like a pirate, midget, scotsman, hick) for x-rounds.
It would also be interesting to have a critter that changes your speech color, non consensually.
Two cups of coffee, four ideas.
All best,
~CTP

This sort of stems off of CTP's first idea, if this place is Improbable Island, why does every item always work? Sure, you expect them to, but having a whooph grenade act like a zap grenade one out of every 20 times is something I think should happen.
But if you don't want to mess around with making items not always work (a bang grenade blowing up in your face would suck), perhaps you should add something like a lump of improbability? When used, it can unleash one of many completely random effects. Will it heal you this time, or will it explode in your face? Will it make you stronger or poison you and make you more defenseless? Or will it not even work at all? I want something that should be as random as the island itself, let me throw caution to the wind by shoving something potentially dangerous into myself just to get that one last percent of stamina and jungle fight in.
Bonus idea I thought of while writing this post: Since you get filled with improbability every DK, the lump could take more effect as you learn to 'overload' it. It could heal you a lot, or send you down to one hitpoint. I'd bet this is a lot more complicated to do than a basic random effect item though...

Improbability Bombs are actually in the plan for S2.

Okay, it is probably too late to suggest anything new, but there is one race I would rather like to play as, and that is:
Doggymorph.
I don't really know how well they'd run... maybe like a kittymorph with more turns and/or being non-photogenic (since the watcher seems to hate them).
I mean, it's little and I won't stop playing or anything, but I just really like the idea of it. and if there are cats, there should be dogs.
