Dan, can you please please please make something that allows us to skip back through pages of comments faster and more easily? I hated the buildup of comments in S1, and I hate it in S2 just as much. Possibly more. Kittania, for instance, seems to be the most popular place on the Island this Season. There are a couple of dozen pages to read through, and it would be nice if there was a faster way to skip to the beginning.

Or if someone's looking for something that happened days ago, trying to find it in well-trafficked areas is a nightmare.

I haven't tested it right now, but I seem to remember that in S1, after a DK, the First Unseen link took you to the VERY FIRST page. Don't know if that's still the case.

What I have tested right now however is: First Unseen will take you always to the same page. I tried in New Home: Hit it, noted last comment, then hit last page, went all the way back plus three pages with the Previous link, went into the Jungle, did some fighting, went back, First Unseen - voila, same page as the first. Will check if it is still the case after a NewDay.

Since in Kittania, pages can pile up pretty quickly (three in half an hour? No problem.), I can see this as a problem.

Well, what's the solution?

Drop-down page number thingy? (whoever thought that form fields as navigation was a good idea needs to be shot)
Simple list of pages in a row like this, along with links to the first and last pages, and to go back and forth five pages at a time:

Just tested 'first unseen' in PV. Yup, it appears to always take you back ti the first page.
A first unseen button that works would be good. I think that of we had all of the above (for the sake of argument) then first unseen is the one I'd use most. Personally.

I just checked with NewDay in NH - First Unseen wasn't available, just like it should be because I went through all the pages.

So, yeah - a properly working FU would be nice.

Longer chatspaces are necessary in some places -- please implement that for the Fourth Wall, where people ask the same questions constantly and they are answered on essentially every page. People would find their answers if they clicked back, but they don't.. so.. lengthen the visible commentary, maybe please?

This would be very, very useful. First Unseen is good, except that quite often I'm wanting to go back to some pages that I have already seen.... to archive them. (I've seen them because I participated in them. Then I want to capture a record for my own files.)

(And if I've nearly gotten back to the point I want to start from and accidentally click Refresh instead of Previous... the screams of anguish, they are loud.)

Oh BTW, and this is especially applicable when you talk about archiving - pretty soon I'm gonna drop the commentary and news expiration down to seven days. Yes, I know that's very, very little, but the server's struggling pretty bad and I don't really have much choice. So, if you wanna archive, now's a good time!

For as long as I can remember, First Unseen has never worked properly. Sometimes it would be unusable (written in green font), sometimes it would take you back about two pages and you have to go the remaining fifteen manually, sometimes it would take you to the very first page. I would like the list of pages in a row. That would be very helpful.

Can we mods be more aggressive about deleting direction-asking and typos and spam, then?

Wrt. direction asking, I am happy to always Distract the rook in question with directions and then steer them toward the Fourth Wall for further game mechanics questions.

As Sessine just remarked to me, we need to increase the signal to noise ratio. In-built literacy test? Quest for the privilege to chat..?
